While I had help on the farmy.
Feeding out.
Climbing up and down the ladder for me.
Throwing in straw for the piggies. Sheila was thrilled and slightly dismayed as she had to remake her bed.
Making me lunch and trimming naughty Marmalade’s fingernails.
You were all in the Lounge of Comments creating a magnificent reading list. There is still time today if you want to add the books you have loved reading this year.
I did not comment myself yesterday to leave you room for more BOOKS! I am never without at least one book on the go. Like most of you I think.
You are all stars for bringing in all your stories and books for us all to read. Words should be shared I think. Thank you all so much.
I am the luckiest girl to have you all.
And tomorrow I shall spend my couch time making the list and hopefully posting it today or tomorrow, so we can all benefit from being One of the Fellowship. I am going to put the list in my christmas cards this year! Then I will start reading.
Happy Thanksgiving! Lots to be thankful for here!
Love your friend on the farmy,
celi

Happy Thanksgiving to you, your John, and whomever else is wont to share the day with you!! Love the picture of Marmalade looking straight at the camera … he is just so adorable! Blessing to you always!!
Happy Thanksgiving, which is odd because it’s not from your culture or mine, but I did enjoy it when I lived in America – it was a good excuse to invite people round for supper 😉
I’m thankful for your beautiful blog, Celi. As soon as I have a cup of coffee in hand I open yours to see what has been happening chez vous everyday. Sometimes your news is tough –like Life–& brings me to tears. Sometimes it is joyous & I love to read it. I am “into” your farmy & its denizens & wish ever one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving from Asheville, North Carolina. My two best book recommends so far this year are Sara Houghteling’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” a novel about the lost art looted by the Nazis in Paris during World War II, and “Citizens of London” by Lynne Olson, another true but very lively history the brilliant Americans who stood with Britain in its Darkest, Finest Hour. A ripping good story told & many juicy bits as these people were living life to the fullest on the very edge. I’m glad We were represented there by these Remarkable Characters. thank you for compiling this reading list. Maybe I won’t be long winter’s napping, but reading instead! And right now it’s also time for my annual rereading of Truman Capote’s Immortal “A Christmas Memory.” Surely his Masterpiece, about Buddy, his Friend, & Queenie & their adventures with the buggy to collect pecans & visit Mr. Ha Ha Jones to buy bootleg whiskey with their hoarded pennies from swatting flies (Oh, the Carnage of August!) to make their fabulous fruitcakes for such worthies as The Roosevelts. Two kites sailing off together through the skies. Love!
I think I may begin with A Christmas Memory.! And excellent suggestion! How remiss of me not to have read this before. and thank you so much for sharing your morning coffee with the farmy.. it honstly makes my heart sing to know you are all out there.. reading in those first quiet moments.. . c
Happy Thanksgiving.
books/authors I enjoy are Ian Rankin – the Rebus novels, John Rankin – the Resnick novels, Kathy Reichs – Temperance Brennan novels, Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels and the odd Lee Child Jack Reacher novel. As you may guess I do rather enjoy detective/ forensic novels never been one for the chick lit girly books!
uh, i might have to try some of those =) did you ever read inspector jury by martha grimes? or lynley by elisabeth george?
Oh, yes, these are my favorites, too.
I have seen some of the drama series based on the Elizabeth George books but he seems a little too gentile for me but then Wexford was, but will give reading one a go and I know nothing about Inspector Jury so need to read some of those. Thanks for the recommendations 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, C. What a blessing you are to all of us in the Fellowship of the Farmy.
I’m so glad you have help! It’s hard to sit–er, I mean lie–on the couch and let others “do,” but it’s necessary sometimes. I hope you have a lovely, restful Thanksgiving. As for books, hmmm… The Orphan Master’s Son, The Suicide Index (a memoir by Joan Wickersham, whom I discovered not long ago and read everything of hers I could get my hands on), Wolf Hall (that’s already on the list, right?), The Orchardist. I could go on, but I won’t. I’m off to turn on the oven! Sending good healing vibes your way, Celi!
Happy Thanksgiving, Celi! I am one of the loud joyous choir that loves reading your blog the first thing every morning!
You might add the The Ghost Bride: A Novel
Yangsze Choo, to your collection,
Orphan Train, Christina Baker Kline,
The Last Runaway: A Novel
Chevalier, Tracy
A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy)
Harkness, Deborah
Once more Happy Day of Thanks!
