While I had help on the farmy.
Feeding out.
Climbing up and down the ladder for me.
Throwing in straw for the piggies. Sheila was thrilled and slightly dismayed as she had to remake her bed.
Making me lunch and trimming naughty Marmalade’s fingernails.
You were all in the Lounge of Comments creating a magnificent reading list. There is still time today if you want to add the books you have loved reading this year.
I did not comment myself yesterday to leave you room for more BOOKS! I am never without at least one book on the go. Like most of you I think.
You are all stars for bringing in all your stories and books for us all to read. Words should be shared I think. Thank you all so much.
I am the luckiest girl to have you all.
And tomorrow I shall spend my couch time making the list and hopefully posting it today or tomorrow, so we can all benefit from being One of the Fellowship. I am going to put the list in my christmas cards this year! Then I will start reading.
Happy Thanksgiving! Lots to be thankful for here!
Love your friend on the farmy,
celi

I recently enjoyed Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole. At least I think I got her name right. Also Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green by Kirsten Gier.
I noticed that you referred to Marmalade as a she this time. Is he a girl or a boy? So…that is you up on the ladder? That doesn’t look like a couch to me. Happy Thanksgiving,….we all have so much to be thankful for.
Oh dear, no Marmalade is a HE. slip of the finger! And that is my friend Kristy up the ladder, she was throwing down hay for the cows.. c
Well, I always figured he was a little boy, full of mischief and delight….I could see it in his eyes. That slip of the finger threw me for a loop, though. Ah, give Kristy a hug from me….you had me concerned. Always so nice to have a friend help out.
We have to watch you like a hawk (smile).
So glad you had some more help.
Tess Gerritson writes crime – she is really good; and Erika Burmeister has written just three books so far and they are beautiful. I think you would really like her.
I wish we had Thanksgiving here. I think we could all do with a special time to celebrate everything we are thankful for 🙂
It certainly is one of my favourite american traditions, we have a lot to be grateful for.. c
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your helpers are making the dinner for you. My daughter has to have a water bottle with a lid for her bedside water as her ginger cat will drink from a glass. For book recommendations, I second “The Dirty Life” by Kristen Kimball. It is wonderful. I have also enjoyed all of Charles Todd mysteries (post WW1 England) and all of Allen Furst’s books (pre-WWII Europe). I look forward to the list. Keep resting and healing.
HI Cheryl! I LOVED “The Dirty Life”!!! What a fabulous book! It did scare me a little as I read it right before we began our farm adventure! 🙂
An extraordinary detective/mystery English writer, Susan Hill, has been my bedside reading the last few weeks. Susan Hill has been short listed for The Booker, so you know her books are wonderful reads Her Simon Serrailler series is about a family whose members are all doctors except Simon. Lots of twists and turns. Definitely not your ordinary mystery novel. There are eight books in this series. The first one The Various Haunts of Men. Fab reading. V.
thank you V, my mother in law LOVES detective novels, maybe I can get number one for her for christmas..(hopefully she has not read your comment already!) thank you!
I’m reading Twice Born, by Margaret Mazzantini right now and really like it so far. The following books I have read and really enjoyed every one of them!!! Change Me into Zeus’s Daughter by Barbara Robinette Moss (a memoir); City of Thieves by David Benioff; Don’t Let Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller; Foreign Correspondence: A Pen Pal’s Journey by Geraldine Brooks; Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls; Nine Parts of Desire by Geraldine Brooks; Two Old Women by Velma Wallace; Unbroken: A World War II story of survival, resilience & redemption by Laura Hillenbrand; White Dog Fell from the Sky by Eleanor Morse; Wild: From Lost to Found On The Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. Happy American Thanksgiving to you Celi and everyone on the farmy and to The Fellowship of the Farmy!!! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Cecelia.
thank you connie darling, hope you are having a lovely family day!! Love to your Mum.. c
White Sky Black Ice, by Stan Jones, a detective story set in Inuit Alaska.
I also enjoyed The Dirty Life by Kristen Kimball. Passionate, energetic and slighty bonkers Mark is so inspirational At one point he tells Kristin who is reluctant to give up all her worldly goods and take the leap of faith with him “What really do you have to lose? We are young and healthy and money will come and go, this is America, things will not be so bad that we will starve but we will be living a life we truely believe in and that is what matters”. I found this perspective so refreshing, his views on wealth and having “things” versus quality of life. After reading this book I wrote a wish list of what I wanted from life, I have not achieved the half of it, most likely because I dont have half of Mark and Kirstens energy but I did make some changes and take a different path because of it.
Perhaps “Books that have inspired or influenced us” could be a new thread one of these days?
So happy to see you have help! My next post will include you and the farmy.
O Juliet how wonderful, I look forward to that.. c
I just followed you on Pinterest and the photo where Boo has his nose in your iPhone and is looking at the camera is priceless. It was almost alien to me though because for some reason I always feel like when I read your blog I’ve taken a step back in time or to some other non-stressful wonderland where iPhones and modern technology don’t exist. LOL But really, of course I know better. 😉
so does boo!.. c
Love the pics today! Sheila is always such a “busy” piggy, such a good housekeeper 🙂 And every kitty needs a mani-pedi every now and then…..Marmalade is such a bright-eyed feline…love the pic of him looking straight at the camera! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family …..I’m thankful you’re healing and hope it continues to improve everyday!
Unbroken! Yes, a terrific book of the courage to bear great pain and deprivation and not give up. Not only is this a great book about someone, it is also a testament to the courage and resilience of Laura Hillenbrand the author. She also wrote Seabiscuit, and she suffers from that debilitating disease tha t causes you to have zero energy. How she manages to do ANYTHING is remarkable in itself. I can’t think of the name of it, but it’s not mononucleosis. It’s much more serious.
I really enjoyed Bird of Passage by Catherine Czerkawska. In fact I have read several of her books and enjoyed them all. I also recommend The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon.
.
Glad you had help with the chores, Celi. They look a little familiar. 🙂
I had a cat once that liked my water, too. I cannot tell you how many times she spilled it on me. I can laugh about it now but, back then? It was an entirely different matter. I eventually stopped bringing water to bed with me. Still don’t.
I had a great Thanksgiving and hope you all did too. 🙂
Looks like you have some great helpers.
