Lunch yesterday was a glorious break and the framing is in place for the new Bastard Mink Proof chook house wall.
Later I was sitting on the step below the bedroom French Doors, catching the slightest of breezes in the shade there (it was very hot yesterday) and Tima the Terrible came wandering past looking for all the world like a lovely little piggie out for an afternoon stroll.
TonTon knew better though.
She sauntered on by, a happy little piggie. TonTon still unnconvinced.
Did you see that? Did you see that sideways smirky glance. That pig gave me The Look!
After thinking about That Look for a minute (It was a slow hot day) I followed her … and sure enough. Tima the Terrorist. At it again. Head deep in the tomato bushes.
She saw me, her bottom froze, then, without a warning beep, she suddenly reversed back out. Turning like a mini bus she raced back past me squealing. Tacking port and starboard to avoid my scooping hands. Her red ripe plunder held high in her mouth. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her – down the garden path, past the house, round the corner, across the fallen piece of firewood, under the tractor, through her droopy pallet gate and straight under the apple tree into her eating corner. There she came to a halt with a roadrunnner screech and blinked. Safe, she gently placed her tomato on the ground, said her Grace like a good piggie and proceeded to solemnly and thoroughly eat that big red lunch – with her mouth open. As you do.
Naughty piggie.
This fly is the fly I hate the most. It lands on my cows and literally sucks their blood. Horrible. It is a big black Horse Fly. I take a fly swat when I visit the cows now. And even if I don’t have my fly swat I wack them with my hand. The cows are always grateful as they often land right where their own fly swattin’ tail cannot reach.
Here is a wider angle shot from above the table so you can see my open plan living area. Just for context. Do you see that very serious big steel plate on the left hand side of the table. That was on it when I bought it. It is screwed down. Isn’t it great? It is an old machine shop bench. It has holes and cut off bits and worm damage and is held together with enormous obvious heavy duty screws. It seats nine comfortably and weighs A LOT. I just love it.
I like furniture you can USE. You know what I mean?
I hope you all have a lovely day.
Your friend on the farmy,
miss c

I love the cat bomber in the last photo – beautiful home and love that table 🙂 Our one friend could not figure out where his strawberries were going and he found out his Golden Retrievers were eating them right off the vine before he could get to harvesting them – ha! Tima has the you pick it, you get to eat it tomato game plan going on. Happy Week on the Farmy 🙂
naughty dogs! goodness.. c
Your table is wonderful. And what a naughty pig! My mom’s dog steals tomatoes and hides them under the bed.
well thank goodness tima does not do that! c
Have you looked under the bed?
I love that sunflower photo, it’s captured perfectly 🙂
Tima the Terrible is a very clever girl methinks with quite a sense of humour 🙂 ! I believe what she does is called ‘foraging’ and if you leave her the opportunity . . . !!!! Love the fact that five places were set at your beautiful table . . . . so hope you enjoyed the company!!!!!!!
I love your pigs, and Ton and Marmalade and all your animals. And your beautiful home and new/old table. I love it all
I’ve seen that look that Tima gave you with that lovely, big, yummy tomato in her mouth on a couple of my dogs over the years. (Hehe, I’VE GOT IT, hehehehe.) Naughty girl.
That’s a wonderful table, history and usefulness rolled into one. Your floorboards would indicate a rather old house. I’ve seen a few here and there with those narrow floorboards, usually oak and usually old. You’re taking beautiful care of them too. Lovely light space.
Tima is such a silly one – but clever.
(Try hanging burlap/feed sacks on a horizontal rope between trees or poles so cows can knock off those flies? They are mean ones)
I love your pigs and this made me squeal with delight!
Well I can’t blame Tima for wanting a fresh garden tomato every now and then! Ugh, flies. I DO NOT miss the biting flies in NH. Awful. I cannot imagine being an animal and not being able to run in the house to get a break from their biting. I love, love, LOVE your table and beautiful open concept rooms. Just gorgeous. 🙂
