Yes.
Categorically. If you can – publish your blog at the same time on the same day. Once a week, twice a week, every day whichever suits you – but if you are able to establish a routine it will make it easier for your reader
Many of you do have routine already, which works for me – if I miss the email I just go looking for you.
For years and years I used to load a post the night before to be published early the next morning and it became our tradition.
When I post every day at the same time my readership rockets up.
This is why my travel is so hard on my readers. You just never know when I am going to appear. (Though here I am below!).
And I don’t sight-see on my travels. I travel to family. I have so much to say when I am at the beach, and in the inner city, but suburbs do not give me a lot of opportunity to create interesting stories for you.
And I am in the suburbs now. And it is too hot to cook.

So my posts have drifted down again. No schedule. I am sorry about that – but this is a lifestyle blog. And my lifestyle is so eclectic!

Tradition and habit and order are actually really important in our lives. Do you have a morning routine? Going through a small start up sequence like a cow coming in to be milked is such a comfort. (Not that we are like cows of course but we learn a lot from our animals). Even though I wax lyrical about my gypsy cat life (I feel I have lived a few of my nine lives already), I still long to be back at the farm with my dogs and my routine of watering and weeding and feeding and Our John coming and going and the wide open sky walk with Boo under a setting sun at the end of the day.

We should never underestimate the damage done to our communities and our children by the pandemic period. Age old systems like getting up for school every morning were interrupted. Some of these routines were put to the side for years. Even our online communities took a hit. The pandemic is one of the only episodes in our lives that we ALL experienced. I remember that whole period in a colourless sepia.
Do you remember those long days at the mill? I did 12 hour days – 6 days a week for almost two years. Everyone wanted flour but so few knew how to cook with it. I taught hundreds of people to bake bread during that period.

I fly back to Illinois on Tuesday morning. It will take the day, I leave my little family here early and I arrive in Illinois late.
There will be a lot of farm stuff to do, so you and I should easily get back into our rhythm.
I will be getting everything ready for 50 chicks too. Meat chickens. Our John’s family keeps growing and they all need feeding!
And The Cadet is back too! We will be catching up with her when I get back the farm – that will be amazing.
Ok!
I’m off, we are going out to the vineyard to pick grapes.
Do you have a blogging schedule or are you like me at the moment just popping out a post when it is ready?
Take care. Talk soon.

I have never had a blog schedule and probably never will. I like to blog when I have something to share with my readers. I’m probably rebelling from 48 years of working to a schedule.
I’m so like you in that, I rarely write a blogpost these days. Do you remember 12 years ago when we used to write a blog every day? How I ever found anything every day to write about I can’t imagine now.
Life ebbs and flows doesn’t it Judith!!
I love a good rebellion!!!
I thought you might!
Me too but occasionally I remember the post a day times and think maybe it would be good to start again. So as we say, watch this space!
I will keep an eye out Judith. Don’t forget to let us know in case WordPress has ( once again) cut the connections.I swear I have lost track of so many people!
Well, as today is the first day of the rest of my life, I have posted a blog on settling or contentment.
for the last number of years, I’ve been doing what you mentioned, setting up something the night before to post in the early morning, but I say go with what works for each of us at any given time. life happens and we happen right along with it. so lovely for you to be with your family and I know you will be happy to also be back in the routines of your farm family.
Yes! We can all create our own routines.I certainly let things slide a little when I am away from the farm. I am always trying to get things back on track!!
I can’t imagine doing a blog post everyday… I don’t even post on Instagram daily or social media to any schedule at all. For me it’s all about community rather than readership or numbers.
Yes! I love my community here – numbers mean nothing anyway – they don’t reflect connection and engagement at all!
I think the most important thing is to keep on posting, but I do like to post just after midnight going into Saturday. It makes me feel like I have a new post on Friday and Saturday!
I’m looking forward to seeing you back on the farmy and the return of the Cadet!
No schedule for me, other than each 2 weeks posting on that second blog I contribute to- which calls for a companion post on my personal blog. I have never written to a schedule- even once per week was hard for me. I don’t have enough to say and don’t want to post drivel. For so many blogging is about numbers and ratings and building up statistics. That is not me.
It will be good to see the farmy again in pictures as summer begins it’s turn down into autumn. I wonder- is that one lone duck still among the group fitting in where she can?
For years and years, 8am nearly every day. If I skip a few days, friends start thinking I’ve died, but so far none have sent flowers.
Ha ha!! True!! Where are the flowers!! 😂 I taught my son how to make your roasted potatoes yesterday. So many of us now make ‘Misky’s Potatoes’.
And the word just keeps spreading! HA!
No blogging for me. Now blissfully retired. Too many years of hard slogging and needing to hit the corporate mark makes me rebel at the thought of meeting others expectations. BUT, I absolutely adore the blogging community and so very much appreciate the effort it takes. We all find each other in the end. You do you. It’s all good.
Yes- you are so right. I don’t feel that anyone expects me to post at a certain time I just do notice that early morning is a favourite time to read posts. With a cup of coffee maybe!?
What a great time you have had with your families. Time to go home. I was so pleased to read how much you are looking forward to returning. I for one will certainly look forward to the routine and delight at reading your daily farm news. Safe travels and “see you soon”.
Very soon!
No matter how wonderful our travels, the best is the coming home.
I go home to get a break!
I absolutely LOVE the video Celi!!! And am with you 110%!!! It will be wonderful for you getting back to the Farmy, and no doubt every human, animal and plant there will be over the moon happy you’re home! And the Fellowship will be happy to be back on the Farmy with you too! 🙂
yes yes yes we are more likely to do something if done at the same time, preferably daily. Good for you !
Done! Lovely as always. Next week I will have pigs for you!
I am a watery person at heart. Cancerian all the way. And follow my moods, creative urges, whims…WHEN left to my own devices. But I have imposed a LOT of order with work and family, and it helps me. I think I’m actually healthier with the schedules more or less in place. The flowers in tin cans are lovely. Be well.
That is a beautiful self description. I also feel healthier when I have achieved my objectives in an ordered day. There is enough chaos out there without inviting into our daily lives.
I used to post quite regularly and then life said get thee away from the computer! So now I just try to do once a week…or whenever I can.
Yes, absolutely a good idea. For the blogger it brings control into your life. For the reader – a connection. I shall attempt this.
