Naturally Hatched Chicks

And I thought I was the only one with chicks in the Late Summer. But chickens have other ideas.

Hen and chicks

This mama hen was wandering about the big pig’s weedy garden. Her newly hatched chicks scratching about in their (the pigs) dinner spot.

It did not feel safe. But there you are. As I write this morning I can hear a hawk. So I will try to get her into the chicken hospital but herding a hen and her chicks is almost impossible – her impulse is to turn and fight.

I was up in the loft of the barn when Big Jude woke up. He could smell me (because I smell like flowers and fun!!😂) but he could not find me.

I just love this little clip! Mr Flowers at the door. Looking bedraggled with only part of his tail.

It rained again last night. Quite the downpour.

The lawns are turning green again.

Have a lovely day. It is Sunday here! And overcast and wet.

Time to get busy again. we have company coming this week.

*Due to the continued lack of internet I am posting from my phone. Using data. Let me know if this makes a difference? I have had one complaint that the text is too light to read. If you can read this ok – let me know! I would be grateful.

But I like to be able to publish early and there is almost always no internet early in the morning here which makes my old cracked phone a simple option – so if this rendition works- I am pleased.

Have a good one.

  1. I can read it just fine! 🙂 Good luck with those baby chicks! It sure can be tough to keep them alive when they are running amuck with their mother! Happy Sunday!

  2. Totally readable thanks. What a coincidence chick wise. Hope they stay safe but what will be will be. Lovely video, clever Tima and poor old bedraggled Mr Flowers. Does he know he’s not his usual handsome self?🤭

  3. it looks just fine to me. the animals all look like we do when we wake up, sometimes a bit disoriented and disheveled, but ready to meet what comes in the new day
