And I thought I was the only one with chicks in the Late Summer. But chickens have other ideas.
This mama hen was wandering about the big pig’s weedy garden. Her newly hatched chicks scratching about in their (the pigs) dinner spot.
It did not feel safe. But there you are. As I write this morning I can hear a hawk. So I will try to get her into the chicken hospital but herding a hen and her chicks is almost impossible – her impulse is to turn and fight.
I was up in the loft of the barn when Big Jude woke up. He could smell me (because I smell like flowers and fun!!😂) but he could not find me.

It rained again last night. Quite the downpour.
The lawns are turning green again.

It looks just fine as always on my Mac computer. I’ll bet my old dog Bob could have rounded up his paws full, but his specialty was lost chicks & Mama hen might fly at his face in this case. I hope you can get most of them before the hawk & bastard mink, snake in the grass & pigs feet. Chickens & their chicken-brained ideas!
I know!! So many dangers! But they have lasted another day and are still all here this morning too. Every day counts!
