Cats in Pictures

Cats effortlessly captivate the camera. With their curves and independence. It is the independence that attracts us. Maybe?

Vandal

Ginger cat. Orange cat. Marmalade cat. Licking paw.

These two are the last cats that we will have here on the farm. I want to encourage native birds not predator cats.

These two cats are old now. But still healthy and hunting.

Have you noticed that if you put a picture of a kitten up on a social media platform it will garner twice as many likes as anything else. That could be interpreted as a pathetic comment on society in general but I prefer to think that we are drawn to the curves of a cat. Their slight stand-offishness. Cats are a respite. A little softness. A break. From all the tough stuff. Do you think?

Stacked firewood

I am trying to get as much wood as possible into the wood shed (known as the Wendy House) for the winter ahead but with Our John’s mobility deteriorating it is proving quite the mission.

I love stacking wood. But I don’t love collecting and sawing the logs up. John’s friend has a forest and they work on keeping it tidy and free of fallen branches and dead wood which are fire hazards. It is our supply of firewood. But the men are getting old and tired. And I am getting tired of asking.

I am going to have to learn how to use a chainsaw.

My first husband once famously said to a friend – I would never lend out my wife or my chainsaw. That comment put me off chainsaws.

Big Jude in Bed

Mature Berkshire hog in deep straw with sunshine

Honestly it does not get any better than this. A big pig in a big deep bed of fresh straw in a big old barn with the doors open to the sunshine. Bliss.

Dick floating in water bowl

Good morning. The weather had been stunning these last few days. So much sunshine.

Look at this forecast:

Just beautiful.

It is Monday morning here, another week begins to unfold. I wonder what it holds.

Have a lovely day.
