“Don’t be scared. They said I could bring you out here. It will be fine. I promise. “
“It’s Ok they won’t hurt you. They are herbivores. (cattie laughter) See thats Queenie.”
“What have you got out there Mary’s Cat?”
“What is it?” says Queenie Wineti.
“It’s a dog” says Marys Cat.
“Sure doesn’t look like a dog.” says Queenie.

“You smell like a dog but you growl like a girl. I think I would like to have your tail. It’s quite the tail”.
“Did you see that? That little fluff growled at me. It is not even as big as my head and it growled at me!”
“Give it time. He is a visitor. They told me to take him outside to play, so why don’t you say hullo to his face instead of his bottom. That might work.”
“Oh yeah, that’s better. Hey Daisy you wanna come see the visitor! He smells funny but he seems OK.”
“That is the Matriarch’s dog. Be nice. He’s only little.”
Hairy MacLairy thinks we should introduce the visitor to Moaning Mia. She likes to play.
“I hate cats!” says Moaning Mia, “they whine all the time. Get this cat out of here!”
“Mia listen to your Mama. That is not a cat that is a dog. It is the Matriarchs dog. He visits sometimes. Be nice. And wipe that hay off your face. You are a mess!”
“Oh, Maa Maa! Now he won’t even talk to me. His little pointy nose is all out of joint since we called him a cat!”
“Kids! …. Queenie Wineti tell Mary’s Cat to take him back, he is going to get himself into trouble out there.”
“You heard Hairy MacLairy. Better take him back to the Porch. Little Dogs should probably stay on Porches.”
“Did you Hear That?”
“What! I hear nothing.”
“Exactly. It has gone too quiet. Didn’t you tell them to go outside and play? OKAY. I’ll go. It’s my turn anyway. Can’t a cat get five minutes to sit and watch the snow melt. All I wanted was five minutes peace.”

Good morning. That just kept coming together, getting longer and longer but I hope you will forgive me. Not much light yesterday but the animals were having fun. As you know my challenge is that all the shots have to be within a day and published the next day. I thought this one might be nice for you to read aloud to the little kids in the family. So I made the dialogue child friendly. That Mary’s Cat! He is always right in the middle of everything!
It looks like we are going to be in the 40’s and wet today with some sun later for more photographs. Fantastic!
Dawn is grey. Time for me to suit up and get out to the barn. By the way Daisy’s patches are already starting to fill in, she is loving the brushing.
Good Morning!

Daisy is looking fabulous! And the cats on the chairs? I didn’t know you had so many! What are their names?
Think One, Thing two and White Cat! And they love to all sleep together like that.. so cute.. c
I love how everyone gets along so well on your farmy! I’d have a great time there I think!
Anytime Rumpy.. Mary’s cat will show you round! c
That Mary’s Cat is quite a cat: fearless, I’d say. Not intimidated by visiting dogs, cows, sheep. So glad you kept him. Thing One and Thing Two. You are a riot. How do you call them? “Here One, Here One. Two. Two-o?”
I said to john I think that cat got dropped on his head as a baby, fancy lying down and batting a Rams about the head.. you are right .. no fear at all! c
Oh you got some good un’s today! Mary’s Cat is a treat, but its the photo of Mia chasing the dog that got me chuckling.
She was off! I have never seen her so animated. the poor dog did not know what to think! c
I read it to Lucy as per your suggestion, and she really liked the pictures especially, with the one of the cat on the half-door the best! (With the cow – where she’s on the Dutch door.) Very fun! 🙂
Oh excellent. Tell Lucy maybe she could make a picture book too! c
Your crew never ceases to delight *all* of us kids, young and old, with the magical help from their mistress and interpreter. I loved the whole episode, but I’m particularly taken with seeing Thing One and Thing Two together like that. Handsome fellas!
