A cat sat in the washing machine

I know many cats like to sit in washing baskets but Mary’s Cat took the feline laundry fetich thing to a whole new level yesterday morning. Now before you panic. The washing machine was empty and Mary’s Cat had not been locked inside.  He had climbed into the clean, open, front loading washing wachine and was sitting perfectly poised, tail coiled just so and very pleased with himself.  Just gazing back out at me with a prayerful churchy expression. So I  popped him back outside and later I found him with this.

Mary’s Cat has discovered catnip.  (Bees love it too. ) The plant had only just cleared the surface of the soil!  It’s a slippery slope from now on.  The cat is an addict.

Queenie wants some too!

Daisy is just grateful to get her old pen back. The one with the gate she can open herself.

White Cat says ‘Say No to Drugs!’

This is lettuce growing in the cold frame.

This morning the weather is supposed to get wet, maybe even snowy, so TonTon and I will do the chores early and go over to the Old Folks Home before it gets too mucky. It is an hours drive, down a grid of dead straight country roads, through empty fields.  You don’t want to get caught out there in bad weather.

I think TonTon will be fine visiting, I took him to a big feed store yesterday that is dog friendly and he walked up and down the aisles with me like a big dog.  He was patted by strangers and behaved beautifully. When we got to the check-out the girl commented on what a good dog he was and with my permission gave him a treat. TonTon laid the little bone shaped dog treat on the floor,  looked at it,  looked at me,  pushed it with his paw, sniffed at it, looked back at me, then reaching down delicately, lips drawn slightly back, picked it up with his teeth  (so as not to have to taste it) and silently nudging my leg, popped it into my hand. All very discreetly so as not to seem ungrateful!

I shall make sure Mary’s Cat is outside before I go.  Now, we need to get busy and fast this morning, there has been too much time off the farmy this week and I am behind on just about everything.

Oh and I have found some more hay so we are back in the comfortable feed zone! Well, as long as we get decent rain and the grass grows! All that!

Good morning.

  1. My daughter and I have concluded that White Cat looks suspiciously Cheshire, which then turned into a lengthy conversation about where Cheshire Cat went once he was finished working in Wonderland. (Illinois, maybe?) And whether or not cats actually need to retire, or would want to for that matter. It went on for a fair bit, and then inevitably came to “when are we getting a cat”. Which, of course, I deflected and reminded her that she could look at the pictures of your cats on my computer whenever she would like. We’ll call it a win. For now 😉

    • (laughter) i love your kids and i love how they get to watch the farmy too. I can’t wait til i have lambs for them, I might email you when we do, in case it is during the week so they can pop in! Hope all goes well though! c
