Do you remember that episode of Roseanne? The sitcom. Or was it Rozanne? Years ago, when she appeared in that kitchen door looking like an absolute fright, hair all everywhere and says to John Goodman. “Do you think I’m purty?” What could he say. Daisy is way too young to have seen that but she is thinking it!

Yes Daisy. You are beautiful.
We bottled the last of the pear cider last night and it is good. Evidently the secret to good hard cider is to forget that you have it, then forget to bottle it.
We are reusing Corona bottles. We crushed the pears back in October. You can see how we did it here.
There is always a little left at the bottom of the flagon. So I mixed this with water.
And took it out to the big pigs. The little ones were deemed too young. They scoffed it, before I could even focus the camera, then tottered back under the trailer for another wee sleep. It was a short invisible party.

We don’t often get a picture of The Big Dog. He seems to have a new lease on life with all the raw milk he is drinking. The swelling from his arthritis is visibly reduced and he is much bouncier, even in this incessant heat.
Have a lovely day.

What was happening on this day a year ago. Making cream cheese and chatting about living a sustainable life in the city.

Yum, hard cider! Daisy is beautiful even with her mouth full.
How wonderful that Big Dog has a second wind!
Have a lovely day ~ April
Daisy’s far better looking than Roseanne 😉
Oh, Big Dog – what a handsome boy. And of course Daisy is always beautiful. I use cider in a bread roll recipe that I use often. It imparts a lovely flavour without being too applie or pearie. Just a bit of sweetness. Happy days to all on the farmy!
And the Big Dog is a fine looking fella. Please show us more images of him. Interesting that the raw milk would improve his arthritis.
That cider looks so great, something for you to enjoy the rest of the year! And how great that the milk’s been helping Big Dog’s arthritis. Good morning!
i am always fascinated by you and others who make more of your own food and drink than me. i don’t know how to do anything but can or freeze a normal vegetable, so i always read with interest. thank you !
Ah look at Big Dog…gorgeous! And the invisible party sounds a bit like me nowadays…my alcohol tolerance levels have dropeed dangerously low and I seem to just fall asleep. Perhaps I need more practice!
I love Big Dog’s looks and wonder what is his story. I missed his intro. And don’t you just love love love Daisy’s ears!

Your Pear Cider is definitely an improvement on the pineapple beer we tried to make in boarding school – usually with disastrous results 🙂 ACV, Celery, parsley, garlic and olive oil good for arthritic doggies. Interested in Big Dog Heritage …. thinking Great Dane/Staffordshire cross? Laura
Yup Daisy sure is puuurrrdy!
Now this is down right wrong. Daisy does NOT look like Roseanne. Daisy IS purdy. And those pigs. It’s just party, party, party, and then sleep it off. It is better than a Disney world on the Farmy. Virginia
Party pigs! Purdy cow! Happy dog. Life on the farmy is good
