The storm rolled in with a primordial presence.
That created a zing of excitement
TonTon literally hid for the entire afternoon. I mean he hid but had to have me in sight too. Such a confused dog.
But there were puddles for water play.
I had to start using the purse camera now as Camera gave up the ghost again.
Our John had a day off due to all the rain and so he put in a few of my new old gates, and we all worked in the barn and in the kitchen for the day. I found this gate in a junkyard. It cost me twenty dollars and is very heavy. Handmade and old.
Good morning. My son, his lovely lady and their dog leave this morning. It is hard to live so far from my grown children. They are scattered about the world. As am I. There you are though. We cannot change what is. But we can certainly work with it.
These have been lovely quiet fruitful days. And soon it will be quiet again. But I will have time to chat with you in the Comments Lounge today. I am determined to have a slow day.

On this day a year ago -I wrote a story about a day in Kumara on the West Coast of New Zealand when I was a child. This in one of my favourite stories. I loved reading it again too! I hope you do.

That first rain shot is pretty darn awesome! I miss my kids too. t
That first shot was taken by Eldest Sons Lovely Lady. Cool isn’t it.. I think if we did not miss our kids we would be rotton mothers. It goes with the territory doesn’t it.. Morning Miss T!!
Yay for the rain and getting so much done on the farmy – very sad though that your son and his lovely are leaving today. I am sending you a BIG hug and hope you aren’t too sad.
🙂 Mandy xo
We had half an inch of rain! c
we had 2″ and 7 tenths down at my house. Got a second storm that we didn’t get up here.
Ah well, I will try not to be jealous! We are still better off than most of the drought regions i think.. c
That was an impressive storm cloud approaching. What a welcome sight! Poor TonTon. Out where you are, the thunder seems so much louder. I’m glad you had such a nice visit with your son. We need to get a few of the others in for a visit, too. 🙂
I loved having them to stay.. it will seem quiet for a few days now that they have gone.. c
Beautiful photos of Ton Ton, the gate and the Duke of Kupa. Enjoy your slow day,
It will be slow, time for a catch up!! c
i get used to my daughter living elsewhere but when she comes home, it breaks my heart all over again when she leaves.
WE never get used to it do we.. I think they manage much better than we do.. c
I’ve been catching up on blog reading, a pot of soup on the stove, and a quiet hour or two. I see you have had a spendid week Celi, your son’s rescue dog is a real handsome chap! But I have a question about your books, I know one is for children, but the other? Kind of autobiog, vignettes, farmy life? Am curious 🙂
Good question Claire. One will be a collection of stories from my life, I know this does not sound that exciting but some of them are pretty funny and I have been encouraged by you guys to collate this one. the other is more difficult but more current as it will be a year on the Farmy! c
So if my math’s is right that makes 3 !! Loved the story from Italy – you painted the light, sounds and smells for me.
Thank you, i loved it over there, a very vivid place! c
I’m not seeing a link to the blog post from a year ago…. am I the only one?
OOops thank you so much. i went back and fixed that, I hope you are able to pop in again to read it, it made me laugh to remember it!! c
Oh yes, it was quite an enjoyable read! Thanks!
You are welcome thank you for catching my error!! c
the time moves so slowly waiting for the door to open, only closing to quickly when they walk out once again
Very well said Terry. I hope things are moving along for you as well, getting the next chapter in your life sorted.. c
Was there supposed to be a link to your story? I don’t see one.
I love that picture of Ton Ton. Trying to be brave.
I just went back and fixed that.. must have been only half awake this morning.. ! c
So happy for you about the rain & sad for the departures…………..such is life!
We got a good 1/2 inch which has popped the grass back up! lovely.. c
I will celebrate your rain whilst wishing that ours would go away! Saying goodbye is always sad, sometimes I wish we could get all the people we love in the same place. 🙂
I know wouldn’t that be grand, a big dinner with everyone, i cannot imagine such a thing! Just writing the invite list would be a wonderful exercise though.. c
Maybe that’s a blog post for the future? 🙂
What an excellent idea! c
That storm cloud is pretty scary looking. Glad it was just rain and no nastiness. As always, your pictures are wonderful no matter what camera you take them with. I’m glad you had such a nice visit with your son, and know it’s so hard to see him leave. Hope you have a good day, Celi.
We had a lovely morning and now they are gone, out into the world again.. ah well.. c
It sounds like your camera doesn’t like moisture (rain or humidity). Great picture of Kupa 😉
This is a very good point Mad, the most recurrent problem is with loading the images into the computer..(damp connections?) I know the images are there, but the card has corrupted them somehow, I keep buying new cards. I have a new reader too.. I am surely going to get that body armour though, that Roger suggested.. that sounds like a good idea! c
Do you reformat the card when it gets full? Friends of mine have had trouble with cards when they have just deleted the pictures instead of formatting it. There’s something wrong if the images are corrupted, though there are some computer programs available that will save corrupted images 😉
No I never format, I always delete.. hmm.. I am going to find another camera to borrow for a bit and get some advice on fixing this one, it is old though.. c
I think you should be formatting the cards – I’ve never had corruption that way. I gave a D70 to a friend a few years ago and she got corruption by not deleting. As soon as I formatted the card it was OK. I would imagine that by not formatting, the data on the cards gets fragmented and difficult to read 😉
Ok i shall from now on, this is a new problem though, deeply aggravating.. c
Poor Ton Ton and storms–thunder makes a scary world for some dogs–no wonder he keeps you in sight.
Poor TonTon it stormed most of the day and he was a shivery mess in the wardrobe half the time!! Morning Alice! c
That second image looks tornadoesque. I love the gate. Heavy oldthings like that carry magic and strength and stories.
It came out of an old barn that was going to be burnt down, really old nails in it. It terrifies me what people are just destroying… c.
