We got rain!

The storm rolled in with a primordial presence.

That created a zing of excitement

and terror

TonTon literally hid for the entire afternoon. I mean he hid but had to have me in sight too. Such a confused dog.

But there were puddles for water play.

I had to start using the purse camera now as Camera gave up the ghost again.

Our John had a day off due to all the rain and so he put in a few of my new old gates,  and we all worked in the barn and in the kitchen for the day. I found this gate in a junkyard. It cost me twenty dollars and is very heavy.  Handmade and old.

Is this too spooky?

Good morning. My son, his lovely lady and their dog leave this morning.  It is hard to live so far from my grown children.  They are scattered about the world.  As am I. There you are though. We cannot change what is. But we can certainly work with it.

These have been lovely quiet fruitful days. And soon it will be quiet again.  But I will have  time to chat with you in the Comments Lounge today.  I am determined to have a slow day.

On this day a year ago -I wrote a story about a day in Kumara on the West Coast of New Zealand when I was a child.  This in one of my favourite stories.  I loved reading it again too!  I hope you do.

    • That first shot was taken by Eldest Sons Lovely Lady. Cool isn’t it.. I think if we did not miss our kids we would be rotton mothers. It goes with the territory doesn’t it.. Morning Miss T!!

  1. Yay for the rain and getting so much done on the farmy – very sad though that your son and his lovely are leaving today. I am sending you a BIG hug and hope you aren’t too sad.

  2. That was an impressive storm cloud approaching. What a welcome sight! Poor TonTon. Out where you are, the thunder seems so much louder. I’m glad you had such a nice visit with your son. We need to get a few of the others in for a visit, too. 🙂

  3. I’ve been catching up on blog reading, a pot of soup on the stove, and a quiet hour or two. I see you have had a spendid week Celi, your son’s rescue dog is a real handsome chap! But I have a question about your books, I know one is for children, but the other? Kind of autobiog, vignettes, farmy life? Am curious 🙂

  4. That storm cloud is pretty scary looking. Glad it was just rain and no nastiness. As always, your pictures are wonderful no matter what camera you take them with. I’m glad you had such a nice visit with your son, and know it’s so hard to see him leave. Hope you have a good day, Celi.

    • This is a very good point Mad, the most recurrent problem is with loading the images into the computer..(damp connections?) I know the images are there, but the card has corrupted them somehow, I keep buying new cards. I have a new reader too.. I am surely going to get that body armour though, that Roger suggested.. that sounds like a good idea! c

      • Do you reformat the card when it gets full? Friends of mine have had trouble with cards when they have just deleted the pictures instead of formatting it. There’s something wrong if the images are corrupted, though there are some computer programs available that will save corrupted images 😉

        • No I never format, I always delete.. hmm.. I am going to find another camera to borrow for a bit and get some advice on fixing this one, it is old though.. c

          • I think you should be formatting the cards – I’ve never had corruption that way. I gave a D70 to a friend a few years ago and she got corruption by not deleting. As soon as I formatted the card it was OK. I would imagine that by not formatting, the data on the cards gets fragmented and difficult to read 😉
