A Soap Opera without Soap or Opera

When I am at the hairdressers, which I have to admit is not often enough, they have a big TV showing soap operas.  As I only see them once every two months or so it seems to me that they move about as fast as the farmy.   The story line is easy to pick up after an absence. Very little happens.

Each day unfolds the same, though the lighting may be different.   I think that the characters on the farmy are a little more unpredictable than the soap opera people. And there is no weather in a Soap Opera and we are ALL weathers.

The characters are the same every day.  The fans get a little mobby sometimes and veryone is growing older, ever so slowly,  right in front of our  Camera eyes.

Camera (who is behaving very well since being reunited with her favourite lens) visits her Soap Opera every day and wonders who is writing the script. There is a  total lack of action during the current season.  Maybe it should be called ‘Mud  Song’ instead of Soap Opera.

We have our stars.

And our old couples.  But to tell the truth it is a  Sleepy Soap Opera without Soap or the Opera.  Maybe it is ‘As Slow As Grass Growing  Opera’. I think you could think of a better one. It might be too early for my slow-as brain.

Good morning.  Today I am going to mow for the compost heap down the back. I use the tractor to transport all the clippings. Then I will clear out two of the dry barn pens and lime their floors in preparation for winter and add all that to the compost heap as well. I layer brown and green so it gets nice and hot.  So there is a bit of work ahead of me today.

Mama’s fleece was sent to the mill to be fluffed up into Candy Floss That Crazy Sheep Lady   knows an awful lot about this process so zap over and see the pictures she took for us.  It really is a fascinating read, and Mama’s fleece looks stunning.

I hope you are going to have a lovely day.

  1. I left the tv on one day last month after the Noon News (we watch during lunch some days) and came back an hour later to find the Soap Opera that I watched waaaay back in high school was on…same people, saying the same things, in the same silly situations….I had to laugh.

Love that pic of Baby Bobby at the fence! Have a marvelously boring day – so much better than too much excitement! 😉

  2. Your Farmy is way more interesting and the characters far prettier, in their natural state, than any Soap Opera. I so enjoy popping out of my (sometimes) frenetic City existance into the peaceful farmy landscape. Busy right now getting my compost ready for my Spring garden 🙂 Enjoy the peace Celi and ….. don’t tempt fate. Laura

  3. Hehe, I’ve done that before. For a while we used to visit certain relatives every couple of months who always had soaps on. Nothing much had changed since our last visit. I think I’d rather watch the farmy and the slow progress of the seasons and times. 🙂

  4. I love the “on this day a year ago…” idea. I went back and reread it (and my comment!). I’d forgotten about this recipe, but I think I’ll make it this weekend for friends. Mmmmm…. thanks for the reminder!

    • Actually the comments are just as interesting, wondering where you were that day as well.. and I also see people I have lost along the way (through neglect) and must catch up with again.. have a lovely day rachel.. c

  5. “As the Farmy Turns” The photos of the naked sheep make me laugh. They look like my cockers after a fresh groom – I shear them SHORT and they look naked for a while, and they feel great!

    • Oh that is a good one!! The sheep are working hard at growing enough wool to survive our terrible winters.. they hate being inside. Unlike your wee dogs i imagine! c

    • Morning Alice, If I have enough I am hoping to crochet two baby’s blankets, i wish i could weave, that would be awesome and I cannot knit! but i can crochet, so it will be baby blankets and maybe a hat or two.. esp one for me! But i am still not sure how much wool i will have.. c

  6. I just love the slow lazy farm days! They are a treat, as so many of the days seem frantic, never being able to catch up with everything on the To Do List for the day! xo
