The post mistress called. A box had arrived in the village with my name in it. She was sending it out with El Postino right away.
I love having a local Post Office with someone running it who knows everyone -we must fight to keep it! Anyway, my new second hand camera body had arrived. Mark2. So after spending half the afternoon huffing and puffing and blowing off the dust on the sensor, with my special huffer, (poor Mark2 with its mirror locked open, upside down on the tripod,) I finally got a cleanish image. Still work to do though.
I could not wait any longer and TonTon and I took mark2 out for a test drive.
Bobby Blanc was happy to put on a few faces for me.
Then with a honk of his horn the speedy courier man came barrelling up the drive with the harness for Hairy.
He stood quietly while we put it in and off about five times before I got it somewhat right. These things do not come with instructions, one is just supposed to Know. And out he went to visit with Mama.
Lots of time.
I am sure an audience was not helping.
Some one has discovered that there are more grapes on top of the trellis.. hmm. If I harvest them now we will have sour wine. If I wait we will have no wine. Maybe they will leave me a little. I am remaking the grave vine into an arbor with a curved structure that big birds cannot land on. Not today though..
The images are too grainy yet so there are some settings I need to work on, however all in all, not bad for $150 dollars. The body is pristine and all the functions seem to work so far. I hope we are back in business for a while. Is there such a thing as a tough camera?
I hope you all have a lovely day. A lovely, lovely day.

What I was doing on this day a year ago. Looks like I was making egg nog and telling another story to my brother’s children about their Dad. It is pretty funny.

Hi C! I’m back…well sorta. Just about done moving and getting resettled. So you got a Mark 2 for $150??? Where did you find that deal?? The images might be a little grainy, but I do like that first one. 🙂
btw here is the first post about my travels: http://sports-glutton.com/2012/09/19/glutton-travels-observations-from-the-cowboy-state/
Congrats on the new arrival! I sure hope you can get it back in tip-top shape. I can sympathise with you about the harness. Over the years, my dogs have used a variety of harnesses, each one more complicated to wear and accompanied with less specific instructions, if at all. Eventually I figured ’em out and I’m sure you will, too, if you haven’t already. Looking forward to seeing Mama in a couple days. I bet she’s pretty in pink.
I had a little laugh to myself about your subliminal message to the peaheans…”I am remaking the grave vine”… 🙂
Glad to hear you are back in business 😉
Like those before me commenting, I think your images look great! At any rate, glad the camera is working and the harness is on. BTW, thanks for “finding” me again after I dropped off your post alerts. I just posted again, so if you didn’t get that email, then it’s not working. I say this because I’m noticing that the time log on these comments on your site is some 8 hours or more ahead of the actual time, so wonder if that has anything to do with it? Maybe just a WP thing. Have a great night!
A good camera is clearly essential! Now I’m going to show my ignorance, because I’m wondering what that harness is for and why he can’t do the job without it?
the harness has a chalk inset, that rubs on mama’s back while he is “doing the deed: this way i will have an idea when she is due to deliver her lambs. Last year we had no idea and because she always has quads i have to be on hand. Actually this harness was designed by a kiwi! c
wow! how very (kiwi) ingenious.!Thanks for explaining; I wouldn’t have thought of this in a hundred years.
‘These things take time’, ‘Lots of time’: so true!! I think, Celi, that means more than 24 hours 🙂 ! Methinks you are ‘doin” awfully well!!
Yay for the new camera! Love the shot of the peahen. 🙂
Have yourself a lovely time, Hairy – and leave all your wives raddled.
How exciting to have a new camera. I bet it’s too big for the baggie.
Morning Celi, ooo new camera! We have second hand camera bodies and new lenses, seems to work well for us.
And I just love those pffft pufff pffft air blower thingies, especially when you can sneak up on a cat and go pfffttt and watch their hair rise and fall and then the cat jump up and glare. A bit like when you creep up on your partner and pffftt in their ear with the puffer blower thingy 🙂 Ah all fun and games. Now where’s today’s post or is it tomorrow now?
Just read this Claire – it had me in hysterics. Not that I imagine you´d EVER do anything like that!
Yay a new camera – all looks so good!
