Plus they really are kind of beautiful in a Miss Piggie kind of way. 
I love sheep too.

I followed Sheila and Charlotte around for a bit yesterday trying to get a good shot of their eyes because I have decided that the reason they are so love-able is that they will look you in the eye, like a dog. Eye contact has a huge impact on the emotions. I could not get that exact shot. Sheila has to keep throwing her ears up out of her face so she can see me and Charlotte was not going to stand still for mood shots.

Good morning. Yesterday the Farmy Lounge of Comments was overflowing with a fantastic selection of literary works for me to read. Thank you so Much for all your suggestions. By last night here were fifty-two suggestions from all you stunning commenters and even a few more on the Facebook page. That should keep me going!
This is a stunning resource. So today I am going to quickly copy them all into the post for tomorrow (as a list – so you can print it). Then you can all share in my bounty.
This is a startling collection of books, authors and mini reviews. I am gobsmacked and very proud to call you my friends. Last night as I was thinking about this rich list of treasure books I felt like you had all given me a present, an early birthday present. So if you have any more suggestions for books to read on my holiday, pop them in today and I will add them to tomorrow’s post for all to read. It will just be the titles and authors.
This morning the Surrogate Milkers are going to do their first morning milking with chores. To date they have been coming in the evenings. So John will do his part and they will do theirs and we will meet afterwards and do any tweaking to the system that needs doing. Then they will all do it again tomorrow and I will take over for the weekend, so everyone will be fresh when I leave on Monday morning. I think we can all relax in the knowledge that the Farmy is in good hands.
Another really terrifying and exciting development is that the builders will be congregating here on Friday. They are thinking of breaking ground to begin the Coupe, The Matriarch’s granny flat, next week. They do need to pour the concrete while the weather is warm, so they can take advantage of any good weather during the winter to build. But I am sad that you and I will not be here to watch. And worry.
However, technology being what it is, we might still get a few pictures. Actually I might give the Kiwi Builder the little camera so he can keep us up to date!

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe that we will be away while the ground breaking work starts on the new building – I do hope the builder will keep us up to speed with the happenings.

The Far Pavilions by M.M. Kaye. A magnificent story set in colonial India. It’s a tome, about 1200 pages.
Oh I love that one too! Yes. I must read that again, that would be a great plane book! c

I do love those piggie personalities. The sheep too! My daughter in law has distinct voices for all her animals and now she’s got me doing it, so when you write in dialogue I hear theirs too!

We met him at a conference and he’s an interesting young man. He has a good blog, too.) The Bloodletter’s Daughter (A Novel of Old Bohemia) by Linda Lafferty. (I had never read anything about this region’s history, interesting.)

I do love your sheep and pigs and I agree about the eyes. They are so revealing. It sounds like you’re all set to leave the animals in the care of others. The house building in your absence would worry me too. I fret anytime workers are working on our home, including my husband. Shinglers just finished reshingling our house and garage yesterday. And that’s really nothing to fret about.
I think once they dig the hole and then pour the concrete, there will be a pause, hopefully by then i will be home.. and sometimes it is easier not to watch them trampling through the garden!! c
Ah I love your piggies and sheep too. Piggies seem to have an almost human air about them and yours are especially nice no doubt to your influence on them!
Yesterday they would run over and touch me with their snouts then gallop off again, just like dogs, checking in! c
