They love to run with a piggie gallop.
Plus they really are kind of beautiful in a Miss Piggie kind of way.
I think you love my piggies and sheep as well.
I followed Sheila and Charlotte around for a bit yesterday trying to get a good shot of their eyes because I have decided that the reason they are so love-able is that they will look you in the eye, like a dog. Eye contact has a huge impact on the emotions. I could not get that exact shot. Sheila has to keep throwing her ears up out of her face so she can see me and Charlotte was not going to stand still for mood shots.
Funny pigs.
Good morning. Yesterday the Farmy Lounge of Comments was overflowing with a fantastic selection of literary works for me to read. Thank you so Much for all your suggestions. By last night here were fifty-two suggestions from all you stunning commenters and even a few more on the Facebook page. That should keep me going!
This is a stunning resource. So today I am going to quickly copy them all into the post for tomorrow (as a list – so you can print it). Then you can all share in my bounty.
This is a startling collection of books, authors and mini reviews. I am gobsmacked and very proud to call you my friends. Last night as I was thinking about this rich list of treasure books I felt like you had all given me a present, an early birthday present. So if you have any more suggestions for books to read on my holiday, pop them in today and I will add them to tomorrow’s post for all to read. It will just be the titles and authors.
This morning the Surrogate Milkers are going to do their first morning milking with chores. To date they have been coming in the evenings. So John will do his part and they will do theirs and we will meet afterwards and do any tweaking to the system that needs doing. Then they will all do it again tomorrow and I will take over for the weekend, so everyone will be fresh when I leave on Monday morning. I think we can all relax in the knowledge that the Farmy is in good hands.
Another really terrifying and exciting development is that the builders will be congregating here on Friday. They are thinking of breaking ground to begin the Coupe, The Matriarch’s granny flat, next week. They do need to pour the concrete while the weather is warm, so they can take advantage of any good weather during the winter to build. But I am sad that you and I will not be here to watch. And worry.
However, technology being what it is, we might still get a few pictures. Actually I might give the Kiwi Builder the little camera so he can keep us up to date!
Have a lovely, lovely day.

Love the piggies. I used to be a sheep loving sort of girl, but over the years pigs have begun to call to me. Perhaps it is because when they fly improbable things happen. And I like that approach to life much better than being known as the source of a sweater… not that there’s anything wrong with that!
Absolutely! c
Will miss seeing the piggies, sheep, dogs, cows, bird and cats, but am looking forward to seeing your adventures in NZ and also some progress shots on the structure. What fun to make a reading list for us…thank you! Have a great day!
I am thoroughly enjoying making the reading list.. cutting and pasting is a pleasant way to make a post when i should be packing! c
It’s great that they are going to pour the foundation while the weather is mild! Oh yes, I hope they take pictures to keep us……er, you posted!
We have been lucky with the weather! morning grammom.. c
I think all of your animals are cute and beautiful!
They think so too Terry.. have a lovely day.. c
Oh, here it is: “The life of piggies” – bound to be a best seller – they are so expressive, and funny, and smart.
Thanks for sharing the book list! I will use it – bloggers discover the most interesting reads – better than paid reviews!
especially where like minded people congregate! c
Love the piggy gallop – ha:) Have a Great One on the Farmy!
we will .. good morning! c
Most definitely 🙂
I’m sorry to have missed yesterday’s post (no Intersnot in the garden) so I’m adding some reading suggestions a day late. I thought of World Made By Hand when reading your NaNo excerpt, so thought that deserved a mention. Ali and I are very excited by an Irish writer called Kevin Barry at the moment. We’re reading his short story collection Dark Lies the Island. It’s not out in the US until next year, but he’s got another previous one. His stories are gems. I also highly recommend David Mitchell’s first book, Ghostwritten which I have read several times. For characters that are hard to part with, Ruth Ozeki’s My Year of Meats is hard to beat. I also recently came across Wilfred Thesiger’s wonderful travel book, Arabian Sand again – a good old fashioned explorer’s tale with some really moving writing in it. Those are just a few Very Favorite Books, but I could go on and on!
Thank you, i shall add them to tomorrows list.. some intriguing reads in there. thank you! c
Just popping in to make sure Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons (1932) is on your list. It is a parody of the ‘great literature’ of the time and is seriously funny.
I’ll second that. CCF is hilarious.
The piggies an’ all are going to miss you….
IF you really need any more suggestions how about The Grass Harp by.Truman Capote, gentle funny, poignant, and another gentle funny, but profound : The Holy Man by Susan Trott – neither of them long, but both feel good….are we still rendezvousing???
Shoot me an email Valerie, are you up north? We must try to meet – that would be lovely.. celima.g.7@gmail.com .. have a lovely spring day..c
Of course we all love the piggies .. and the sheep … and the dog .. and the kittens .. and .. and… and Head Mistress Miss C. I am so looking forward to the list of books . V.
I am having such fun making the list too.. so much to read, how exciting! c
Like you I love pigs…they are so much like wonderful lovable dogs! And they DO look you in the eye and then gallop off. Sheep are the cuddly animals, like a bunny or a baby chick. I raised sheep as a girl. As a married young woman I had sheep and dairy cows and pigs, not to mention two dogs and cat for every kid, plus chickens…well you understand!

Oh I do understand.. really I do! c
I loved their domed look – domish and cavorting!
Oh another lovely word.. cavorting! c
Goodness, I am a little behind on your posts. First off: Who knew piggies were so cute? Now I do. Second: I HIGHLY recommend The Tiger by John Vaillant.
Love that Piggie gallop – actally, I think I run a bit like that 😉
No you don’t. Do you remember the little rocking horse you had as a kid but on a wheel and you ran around the yard, jigging its head up and down, they run like that. I am sure you don’t, you would be much more elegant. c
Ok, maybe I just have a slightly rolling gait!
Thats the wine darling, don’t worry about it! c
