My Wind Socks.

It was windy yesterday. Bendy tree windy.  Trouble standing up windy.

40 mph (65 kph) It was like living on a ridge in Wellington! You guys in Chicago must have had a wild day. After I took this shot I struggled back inside so Camera House could rest in safety then  came back out and picked up the rest of the washing that had blown into the back 40. It was dry though.

Thing One quietly, quietly took over The Big Dog’s bed in the back corner of the verndah. He made himself very small hoping that the dogs would not notice. But it was  calm spot in a wild wild day.

The wind was a Sou’wester so this corner was an oasis of calm too.. Just as I had imagined it would be. Don’t you love it when a plan comes together. Such a good plan – you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel!

The unDaily view. What I should do is give you a close up of some of the corners of the Daily view. Maybe tomorrow. There is activity in Sophie’s Garden (all my Gardens have names) but you cannot see it from this distance.

There is talk of going  to the Bantam Swap today. Last time I went I came home with a peacock so as you can imagine there is some opposition.

Good morning.  Naughty peahens and Kupa did not even come out of the barn all day. It was way too windy, all the birds stayed in.  They chose to sit on the other side of the loft watching us build the new Pea Motel. (No camera in there yesterday though, too much bad dust). As you know barns are filled with all kinds of detritus (though I had another word for it after an hour of shifting it from one side to the other amidst panicked shouts of “Don’t throw out the good Stuff!”) It was a case of four steps back and one step forward but we are getting there. The pea hens are going to have a magnificent big home when we are finished.

Have a lovely day. If we do go to the fairgrounds market, I shall take camera house, but we are not staying long I told them,  there is a lot to do today.

PS. On this day last year I picked up the Easter Chickens and now they are big fat golden laying hens. They got a proper photo shoot too. The leghorns would be jealous!

Here are a few statistics I noticed. The Kitchen’s Garden has published 600 posts, has 971 followers and received 279,615 odd viewings. What I am delighted about is that almost everyone who has joined the fellowship of the farmy reads every day.  What a wonderful gift you are. Even if you are unable to comment you are there reading my words and following the movements of the animals every day. Surrounding us in your gentle care and smiles. Now, I am not telling you this to brag, because it is you who should feel proud. To follow a page daily like this is an investment of time that I take very seriously. I am very grateful to you all.

  1. When I saw yesterday’s forecasts, I thought you might be in for some heavy winds. We had gusts, here, but nothing to compare to winds that sweep through the Prairies. If any of your laundry ever takes flight in the wind, be sure to send me an email and I’ll keep lookout for them in case they land around here. 🙂 Enjoy your evening, Celi.

  2. Hi Celi
Thanks so much for that wonderful pic of Thing 1…..it’s so clear I can almost feel his soft furry coat. I hope you don’t mind that I saved it to my pic file so I can use Thing1 as my desktop background…..Hope you’re enjoying this heavenly spring day too!! 🙂 (please let me know if you’d rather not share your pics….it’s fine)

    • I ALWAYS love to share my pictures.. in fact I love it when people steal them, you don’t even have to let me know.. i just love that you love the image! good for you! and it was a heavenly day.. heavenly.. c

  3. Good evening Celi finally got in the house to after fixing some gardening spots like plowing the area then till then till more then plow next ares then till fun fun fun set fence to keep out the cows and pig (pinky pie ) is still on the loose time to eat her or feed her . SAINTS

  4. But of course, one gets up. has breakfast, does ablutions, makes bed, checks news and weather and friends with ‘frantic’ email signals and then goes > Celi! Mmph, I think we all do that! Love your term ‘bendy weather’: have used it here and had people copy 🙂 ! 40 mph not that bad for a Wellington gal if you have ups and dows on the landscape and are surrounded by trees – you don’t!

    • I know it.. hey Eha, i found your willow today! A lovely tree, I shall plant it tomorrow and show you, I am looking for the perfect’ Shady for Daisy” spot! this is fun! c

      • Oh, yes please and thank you and have to think of a way to do that!!!! And would love it to be in a fave place for Daisy 🙂 !!!!

  5. Your blog is a joy to read; I don’t know of another like it. You open the big barn door and invite us inside for a visit.

  6. i am so happy i found your blog and i try reading every day. when it is morning in your world i am sitting at work on the computer, so sometimes i have the time to read, sometimes not. right now it is morning in my world and i will be off to work soon. good morning miss c!

  7. The clothes are really hanging on in that first picture. Great shot
Love how the construction is moving along – what a nice outdoor nook is created there (although my dad wold say you need more overhang over that door to protect it – but I’d remind him it doesn’t rain as much there so not as much rot!)
Reading on to see what else is blowing your way!

  8. That is serious wind! – yes, Wellington wind indeed. So good to see the green grass in the daily view. I don’t think I’ve missed a post since I became a follower, and sometimes if I haven’t taken a look for a few days, I will suddenly wonder (while having a cup of tea or going to sleep at night), ‘What’s happening at the farmy?’ You have a way (and so do the animals) of keeping us all interested and involved.

  9. Part of the morning rituals – to turn on the computer and seeing the farmy blog somehow makes that first cuppa even better. When its funny, so much the better, when its sad then I have time to reflect and think. I have also found some good links to other blogs – and good information – through your comments lounge. So long as you are happy to take such lovely photos and let us in on the happenings at the farmy it seems lots of us out here enjoy visiting. Joy
