Life goes on …

But without the Little Kitten I am afraid. I wish I could give you better news.

aah-019He died while sleeping in the sun yesterday morning.  In all the time he was here he never really woke up. His eyes seldom opened. He weighed little more than feather. He just got lighter and lighter then softly drifted away.

But the other two are alive and noisy and still gaining weight and beginning to move about confidently.  Can you see Middle Puss under NannyBoos chin in the photo above? These two really are fighters. Maybe even mousers eventually.

And BooNanny is ever watchful.

While I was working in the barn Sheila came in to tell me that now the field chickens were out of Pats Paddock she could resume her walks.

So she has.

Life goes on. Daisy is still wondering whether Mama has better grass that she does. aah-054 aah-060 aah-068

We have piles of forage for the animals this autumn.  The grass is still growing.

Have a lovely day.

Love your friend, celi

  1. Any loss is always a blow, but we never know what’s going on inside the animal. However I know the little one had the best possible time and chance when it met with your determination.
My next set of 10 4 day old calves arrive in a few days so wish me luck

    • Awe C. I can’t say any more than any of the others have said…I agree with all the Fellowship…little Tiny Tim died surrounded in love and sunshine. What more could any of us ask for!

  2. Sorry to read this, Celi. If it’s any consolation, that little guy’s best chance for survival was in your hands and under your care. At least he was able to experience a loving touch.

  3. So sorry about the little one. But he died in the best of circumstances, surrounded by love & care, in a sun puddle. I’m afraid after bottle-raising the other two, I’d never let them out of the house! They can be house-mousers 🙂

  4. So sorry we lost the little kitten in spite of valiant efforts from yourself and Nanny Boo. As you say, life goes on and now we must concentrate on the two surviving ones.
Boo is such a natural, and the photos of him with the kittens are precious.

  5. Like every-one I love it that the little one slipped blissfully away in the sun… I also wonder what happened to their mother, they so rarely neglect their duties she must have come to an untimely end…… so no doubt she was there to welcome her baby home…

  6. The sadness and then the joy in life . . . the little one died in loving care ~ you were afraid from the beginning he would not be a ‘farmy cat’ . . . but then look at all the other animals loving that abundant grass [you must feel relieved at it still growing!] and looking so relaxed. And NannyBoo still at his post! [Hmm, so I am not the only one with so many books that some end up ‘stored’ on the floor 🙂 ! ]

  7. Hi Celi
So sorry about the Tiny Puss but must say it did seem a bit inevitable from the start…..thank you so much for all you did to try to give him life…and I’m just feeling lots of pride for Nanny Boo! He is a very special creature with lots of love and goodness in his heart…You got a real prize when you picked him!! 🙂

  8. So sorry to hear it, Celi. As others have said, he let go while resting in the sun and held in the light by Nanny Boo. He was lucky to have found your farm!

  9. I think I saw that coming. That little kitty was the one who wouldn’t make it, but the others look very lively and the grass is still so green and lush: a good sign.
