A Right Royal Pain in the Arse

Sorry.. Had to say it! But now I know exactly what that expression is all about.

Yesterday was grim, more about teaching me what I cannot do. John took over the chores.  I took spells, resting on my side between other jobs.

But I am already improving.

Though after I had delivered the dinner to my little family, whose Mum came out of hospital last night, as sick as she was when she went in, John had to come and help me get out of the car. Next time I will take the bloody doughnut. There it is – my language deteriorating again.

But I found that standing  and rocking from foot to foot with a 4 week old baby snuffling into my neck like a little hedgehog, while directing the other five in the use of sharp knives to cut up their bacon and egg pie while their Dad drove to the hospital to pick up their mother,  was actually therapeutic for my poor little bones. The gentle rocking seemed to help.

The Clean Up. Sad old Elms. They are so old and so rotton in the trunks.  No more treehouse or swing anymore.

Have a lovely day. Today will be new and different and probably better.

Thank you so much for all your friendship and wonderful advice and care yesterday. Isn’t it interesting how many of us have suffered injuries to the tail bone before. We are quite the Fellowship in more ways than one.

And thank goodness that all of you who were in the path of these tornadoes also made it through OK.  All our thoughts are with those who did not.

  1. Those pesky tailbone injuries take forever to heal, so hopefully your recovery will be short. How generous of you to continue to give to others when you feel in poor health. Totally unasked for advise, but please keep your baby kitten inside. He’s far too precious to be subjected to the trials of the outdoors.

  2. Good Morning. Glad you are feeling some better. Sad about the trees. We lived on a property for 30 years. Planted an orchard, etc. We also planted a Sugar Maple. Got to enjoy it for quite a few years and then moved. It is nice to think of that tree. It is 45 years old. Our thought was that it wouled be for the generations coming. So plant another tree. In years to come it will be enjoyed.
    Have a good day!

  3. I saw pictures on the news last night of the devastation caused by the tornadoes in the US. I had no idea how bad it had been. By the way, I have immense sympathy with your pain….in 2003 I got insanely pissed and fell into every ditch and pot hole whilst trying to walk home in the dark. It resulted in a “hernie discale”, an operation and lots of physio. My left foot is still numb and without feeling. I have no excuse but I do know about the pain. Really hope it starts to get better soon.

  4. Oh my…. Yes – gentle swaying does help. I found stretching – slow – methodical stretching – helped the most.

The good things going for you is your home grown food products – farm fresh milk and eggs – increase your consumption if you can…..

Our dear Grammie broke her hip – she was a Christian Science member – and would not let us take her in to the hospital. She was 62 at the time… and had only been to a Dr once in her life and that was when Uncle John was born. She laid up in bed for 12 weeks – eating eggs and milk (raw) religiously every 3 hours. She always walked with a limp after…. but she did it.

  5. Hope the kids’ mother doesn’t continue in the ‘as sick as when she went in’ vein – that will be desperate for the family. I hope more family help is on the way tor them.
Just catching up on events; I’d second Epsom Salts – reduces swelling well. Good quality essential oils such as lemon grass, clove bud, ginger, white birch, helichrysum (if you can get it), wintergreen (difficult to get in UK) can be effective as a topical pain relief lotion. I tend to favour (small amounts) of lemon grass, clove, ginger and white birch in an almond oil base.
Don’t forget turmeric as an anti-inflammatory – ingested I mean; also glucosamine sulphate and MSM will help the joints/cells in the area of damage cope with the inflammatory response. (Both GS & MSM take a few days to get into the system.) Omega 3 oils… I’m sure you know all this stuff anyway! Keep moving slowly, rest some, move some… Get well.

  6. My slow moving friend, you will learn, as I have had to do, to observe more closelyand enjoy the minutiae of nature. But it will be horrendously difficult for you to keep up with those wily animals on the farmy. I’ve been worrying constantly since reading your post yesterday, and hoping that you can find someone to shoulder some of your load.. Is there someone nearby who could help the poor sick Mum of 6?

With hugs for all the non-tender bits of you. Love, ViV

  7. Morn’in Celi
So good to hear you’re feeling a little better! Seeing the pics of Marmalade always give me a big smile……I see he’s checking out the internet……could be he wants to be the new “Grumpy Cat”? Naw…he’s much too sweet to be a grump! 🙂

  8. My heart goes out to you! They say that time heals all wounds….and it sure takes it’s darn sweet time too!!! 😦 I love that in all your pain and discomfort you still found the gumption to make dinner for the little ones next door! I know that mommy sure appreciates you! I hope she is feeling better too! The softness of babies feels so good even when one has an injured tailbone!!!
I love the photos above! Marmalade and Boo share the little stuffed baby! So cute! He truly is a wonderful boy!!!
Sorry that you lost your treehouse and swing…sigh…I liked to see them too! But I am so glad that you didn’t suffer the destruction that so many did. I saw a video of a man who found his dog under the rubble of his house and it was still alive! God was watching out for that little girl!!!That family had lost enough!!!!
As for foul language? Ha! I feel so much better when I say a few choice ones!!!! LOL My mother would faint if she were alive and could hear what comes out of my mouth sometimes!!! Shocks even Kevin!!! LOL
Ah well…I never cussed til I moved out here so I figure I am entitled to a little bad behavior! 😉
Take care and I pray you feel better sooner than expected!!! Muah! (((Celi)))

  9. Ah, sometimes our bodies just don’t cooperate! I’ve been dealing with sciatic pain and arthritis in my hip that could mean a hip replacement surgery but really trying to avoid that route. I hope you feel better – sometimes a little rest is warranted.
