Mini apple pies in mason jar rings

Have you ever thought of using  preserving jar rings to create personal little pies? last-light-007

Mini apple pies adapted from here .  I found this idea on pinterest. (Join me there if you would like.  I post my favourite image from each farm day on my pinterest page, when I remember. and when I have one!)

To make your little pies just turn the lid rubber side down into the ring and grease well then proceed as usual. I used my usual butter pastry and a jar of apple-pie-apple from my cellar.  Perfick.

I was so intent on cooking and resting (and pinteresting) and getting my chores slowly done that the light went out on the day before I even got Camera House out.

But it was a good day. I did not need any pain relief all day.  The pain is down to a workable level.  And I had good strong help. A very good day.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

    • I decided to fold myself into the little car and go to visit the old codger.. it was awful viv, the pain was terrible, so i joined you in that blue streak..and am back on the couch for the afternoon. Do you think that to protect your broken area you stand differently causing new pain in another area? I think I am doing that too.. c

  1. Ah Pinterest! I scoffed at first but love it now. Good place to explore when you’re laid up.
Glad you’ve rested your butt into a good healing place.

  2. The inviting warm golden lights and pies are so tempting to your virtual neighbours 🙂
Heaven help me, I succumbed at your suggestion to Pinterest too. It was only a matter of time anyway 🙂
Enjoy the Thanksgiving cheap seats, they are a great place to have a rest.

  3. How strange…I have posted 2 comments and none showed up. BTW….went to Pinterest for the first time and just spent 2 hours there. Love your page, Celi…especially the quote from Coco Chanel. Is that why I am a recluse, ROFL? Keep taking it easy, please. Comparing little Marmalade to his pics when he was found…..he sure has grown under your loving care. Too bad the other two didn’t.

  4. What cute little pies, and I’m so glad you have strong help. That is very good timing. Now you have time for small pleasures. Mini pies sound like the right weight to lift! I’m smiling.

  5. I certainly have enough canning jar lids to feed mini apple pies to an Army 🙂 Will have to give it a try sometime.

I did jump over to Pinterest and joined your page though. Always looking for new ideas to Pin in hopes of one day trying them out.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better and able to get around a bit more.

  6. Hmm, late on today and all because of you!! With my perennial ‘I don’t have time’ motto I had never ever been to Pinterest and have just spent some unexpected time on your page 🙂 ! Had fun too! And what a beautiful photo of yourself graces that page!! Loved the pics you have obviusly loved ~ next bit of ‘homework’ will centre on Triina Turk you have up there: altho’ she was born in Ca, I have a funny idea she may be of Estonian parent[s]: the name does not seem to belong anywhere else!! . . . and of course you were not going to drive, but . . . . hmmm . . .

  7. Wonderful post, Celie. I’m very glad you’re doing better and have such great help.
What a great idea making these small, individual pies using jar rings. I’d like to say it would enforce portion control but who am I kidding? I’d just eat 4 of these instead of 2 pieces of regular pie. 🙂
Have a great night. It looks like we missed a nasty snowstorm for a change. Yay!
