Most piggies can open a door and go out. That is not a problem.
Yes, many pigs can open doors to get out. Maybe that is not too clever.Though Sheila’s smile of satisfaction is pretty sweet.
However Sheila has also worked out how to go back to the door, push the bolt about, get her nose into the crack of the door, muscle it back open and then make her way back IN. Very clever I think.
I thought you were out in the yard Sheila?
Oh, woops, I did not see you there, miss c, she says. Well.. um.. I was outside in the yard -in the weak wintry sun like you said and then I changed your mind and came back in. It is cold out there miss c.
I love Sheila – my big fat pig.
It is a small trick but a good one.
Not like Daisy the deeply Un-benevolent milk cow who opens any gate that is held with a hook latch – so they have to be tied up with baling twine or I come out and find her in the barn corridor wreaking her own particular brand of mayhem.
I hope you are having a lovely day, a lovely Christmas day.

Merry Christmas, Cecilia!!
We once had a cow that would undo locks, even twine locks (she would get it in her mouth and pull until she got the right string….then off through the barn, out into the farm yard and right up to the back door. She would have come in if she could, the round knob got her (THANK HEAVENS).
So back to the barn we would go with several cookies as a lure.

HUGS
My husband has been home from the hospital since Saturday. A few setbacks since–a trip to the ER Sunday night then another trip downtown to the hospital in his pajamas with me trailing his Foley for an afternoon at the urologist. (I didn’t even notice. He made the comment much later that it was fun to go out in pajamas.) anyway, he’s a little better and we got to stay home by the fire last night and will again today. yay!
Celi, hope you have an enjoyable day. LOVE THE SEQUENCE OF THE SMARTY PANTS PIG. I’m going to treat myself to BABE today.

And a young male deer and his girlfriend were just out here in front of my office! They said they are finished delivering all the toys ~ now it’s their to “play”!!

Oh, Sheila! Clever, clever girl! Merry Christmas, and I hope you find some peace today.
Your farmy population is ALL clever!
I had a lovely day: NO cooking, and a splendid meal with a charming family. Then home to crash out on the settee, exhausted!
Your farmy animals are so smart. All that clean living is paying off.
Was not going to open the computer a’tall, a’tall, a’tall today ~ silly me! First a big group of old Sydney friends with children and grandchildren together on Xmas Eve had put together a whole photo gallery for me [smiles, tears, memories – but all good!] . . . then you have given us a real Christmas present with that warm and glorious set of Sheila’s!! Hope you had a good day . . . a real good day . . . hugs . . .
What a sweet post. I can see why you love Sheila. And I’m wondering something. Remember when you set off many moons ago to buy a pig, and came back with two. I’m wondering, was Sheila the first choice or the second?
Actually when the man and I climbed into the stock trailer to look at the piglets he did not close the door behind us and two fell out and ran away. Much to his horror. We cornered them in the tool shed. I caught Sheila (much to my surprise,) and the man caught Charlotte, then talked me into taking them both.. I had never even thought about that..c
Happy Boxing Day to the farmy, and to you, too, c. It’s a bright, crisply cold morning here. Nice change from the 90mph winds, power outages across the SE, and floods everywhere. My heart is with all those tens-of-thousands of people in Surrey and Sussex still without power, whose houses are flooded knee-deep from rivers overflowing banks. Our Christmas dinner with the neighbours was a delightful evening that went into the wee hours of this morning. Everyone thought we should have done this 20-years ago when we all first met as new neighbours. (p.s. Happy Christmas, Sheila.)
