Yesterday it snowed again. But it was a gentle sweet silent snow that did not last too long. But the clouds sat heavy. Heavy clouds breathing light snow. Like kind gods.
A benevolent uncle kind of snow.
I set about trapping and catching the frostbitten chickens who had run off to the barn before the Bad Storm of 2014, so I could release them back into the warm chookhouse. Not the roosters though. The fights would be terrible. And I am not a betting man. So the roosters will have to continue sleeping with pigs.
Evidently there is a lot to be said for having a little one..
So says the very old grandmammy chook.
When Boo plays with his Marmalade Cat, he always holds one of his toys in his mouth. So when he gets the biting feeling, it is a blue whale and not his kittens foot in his mouth. I find this interesting. Because this kitten plays rough!
The best time to catch chickens is at night fall. Five of the worst afflicted are now back in the chook house.
Look at that fat cow. Queenie Wineti. Though still technically a heifer. All that extra feed during the cold time is showing. Or is it a calf that is showing? I do hope so. I know the blood tests said both Queenie and Daisy were pregnant but I will be so relieved when I see the physical evidence of a pregnancy.
Today the forecast is for rain. Rain. RAIN?
Have a lovely day.
Love your friend on the farm,
celi

I’ve been away in the bush, offline for some time. Nice to return, and now I’m going to work backwards and have a nice catchup of what’s been happening on the farmy. If you want to know where I’ve been, come and visit at http://seasonalinspiration.blogspot.co.nz/2014/01/return-to-nature.html
Your photos warm my soul. I love the dog playing so sweetly with the cat. I love all of the animals really.
