I am not sure if this is Pania again, too far away to see if she has the gap in her crown or not. But What is she doing up there again? Probably trying to warm me about what I would find in the chook house.
Sheila was in the chook house to steal their food.
But I had already collected the eggs so she followed me back out and ate them one by one standing knee deep in the snow. In fact her diet has lots of food in it but no oats and oats are her favourite food. Usually I give her a mix of oats and barley and wheat instead of the dreaded corn or soy. But I think the oats have been fattening her up. But now no oats – only eggs, milk, wheat germ, alfalfa and piles of veges and fruit from the store. (They give me a bag of old stuff twice a week). But all in smaller portions of course as portions are the most important part of any diet.
Good morning. We may not have a dawn again today as we are in the midst of another snow storm. The clouds are still very low. The light will just filter into the air like fine sand. I cannot see much from the windows but it does not look like we had too, too much. As opposed to TOO much. All the deep footprints on the porch are filled so I am going to guess maybe two or three inches.
We had a plethora of incredible comments yesterday. Thank you for those. There are many new ideas in there for those of us who are trying to live within our means and the means of the generous forgiving earth we share with. So if you missed them, pop back, the comments are guaranteed to be interesting reading. I shall go back now, while I am waiting for the light to rise, so I can answer last nights contributions. I might see you in there.
Maybe I should be writing a book of comments. But imagine the copyright issues!!
Or Maybe I should make a collection Post from the Comments Lounge. Or a series. Now there is a thought!. Hmm..
I hope you all have a lovely day.

PS Good news. The best news. The lost teenager Jade, the daughter of one of the original Fellowship members has been found. She is alive and safe in the hands of the French police who found her yesterday. Her mother our friend is ecstatic. So thank you all of you who helped in the search with your shares, and prayers, twitters and hanging posters. Every little bit helped. Many thanks.

Sheila made me laugh. My big dog, Sam, is on a diet too. Mainly because he has arthritis in his back legs so can’t afford to carry any extra weight. So no grains for him, be they oats, wheat (he loves my bread) etc. So yesterday I caught HIM eating the chicken feed too!!
I am glad my dogs have meat to eat because finding a grain free dog food is very hard! and expensive.. c
I make all their food from the local farmers meat, so like you I know what they are eating. It just seems Sam in the past eating grain (before I learned how bad it was) has now got an addiction to it! LOL
Boo does the same thing, Must be sweet.. c
Saliva turns grain to sugar taste in the mouth. That’s why grain is sooooo delicious and addictive. I had a teacher in grade school have us chew a slice of bread until it was mushy sweet. Starch (carbs) turn to sugar. Funny, I never forgot that day.
I was going to write something encouraging about Sheila but then I read the part about our missing girl concern and all thoughts of Sheila went out the window. So, so very happy about the outcome. Thank goodness, such a relief and joy for her parents and for all of us who were following this whole plight. 😀
First of all, so glad to hear Jade was found and that she is safe. What a horrible experience for her and her family.
Sheila is just trying to make sure she keeps that piggish figure she’s worked so hard to create.
And now I must go read comments from yesterday’s post.
Morning Deb! c
Isn’t it the best news about Jade!
Off to catch up on yesterday’s fun on the farmy
The first picture of Sheila in the chook house looks just like an illustration in a book. She is such a fine figure of a gal (dieting or no), and as another of your readers commented, I think she’d make the best subject of a book of her own. So much personality, that smiling piggy! Am so relieved for Rosemary that Jade is found. What a hellish thing to go through and I’m glad you could help her get through it.
I am so glad they found Jade. I had sent this around three times hoping for a positive result!!

I know, such a close thing and now another beginning for that family.. c
I’m so glad to hear about Jade. And thank Sheila for being such a source of entertainment… never a dull moment with that girl!
Sheila never fails to entertain !!! She looks so funny in there with the
chooks !! A dieting pig is indeed an oxymoron !
Happy news about Jade. Thank goodness she is safe.
as a diabetic, i eat as much fiber[oats, for example ] as possible, oats have few caleries, take longer to digest, and fiber makes me feel not as hungry, cutting back on protein helps lower blood sugar levels, and helps with weight loss
I think anyone with a brain (like yours) will design a diet that suits him or herself. You have and it is exactly right for you. This is why i hate labels, no one diet will suit everyone, learning what works for your body is what is the most important.. c
Oh Sheila, I do empathise. I couldn’t function without my bowl of oatmeal every morning. She sounds like me – totally unable to give up the carbs. I glance at those low carb/high fat diets and at the thought of no pasta, bread, potatoes, oatmeal etc I run to my pantry and do a complete Sheila 🙂
We seem to be in a thaw at the moment – all our pretty snow is looking dirty and melting quickly. Of course, I’ve lived here too many years to be conned into thinking this is anything but temporary and that the snows will return with a vengeance, but for now it’s hovering just on zero.
Beware the brilliant cunning of a pig who feels nutritionally short-changed!
So glad Jade is safe, and one hopes that she is unharmed in every way.
I’m pleased to hear the Good News.
Poor Sheila. When you are accustomed to being able to eat anything and everything, cutting something(s) out/back takes a bit of getting used to. I would hope she’s more gracious about it than me, but I think she’s just more resourceful. At least there are still eggs.
So glad to hear about Jade!
oh Miss Sheila! I saw the news about Jade on FB yesterday and rejoiced!
