I had just taken this shot of Queenie Wineti standing knee deep in snow enjoying the sun when I was almost run down by Sheila carrying her lunch inside.
We were on a pause, Sheila was standing in the snow eating her medicine mixed with shredded apples and carrots. I was standing in the doorway to her sunporch bedroom. I took this photo of Queenie then I lowered the camera (I always shoot through the view finder I have never got accustomed to that odd screen on the back of Camera house so I turn it off) . I turned the camera off with my clumsy double gloved fingers, replaced the lens cap and was placing the camera on its shelf in the barn when I heard a clattering run right behind me.
All in one movement I reached back for the camera, switching it back on as I turned and raised it, taking off the lens cap with my free hand then without even having time to think I crouched, took this shot then leaped out of the way of a cold footed pig on a mission.
She raced past me with the bowl in her mouth and straight up into her straw carrying the bowl all the way to her window into the barn.( You have seen lots of pictures of her at this window watching me work).

She placed the bowl gently by her window. Finished her carrot sticks. Then picked the bowl up and threw it through the window into the barn.
None of those are terribly good pictures but they are action shots, no time to focus, you know how fast a cold footed pig can move.
I swear if that pig could sit back on her heels and wipe her hands together that is exactly what she would have done.
The Bitter cold was back last night.
The chickens are deeply unimpressed. Though they have the warmest house of the lot.
It is getting light, almost sunrise. Good morning.
I hope you all have a lovely day.
your friend on the farmy,

Hee, hee … remind me never to stand between Sheila and her dinner 🙂 She’s just hilarious – forget breeding from her. We want Sheila clones!
I think i am falling in love with Sheila – she is just so full of personality. Who knew? thank you for sharing her with us.
My kids will love seeing your clever pig! They’ll be trying to teach our chickens to do the same thing….
Shelia and her bowl…too lovely and funny beyond words and yes, I am too suprised that she did not bring the bowl back to you for a refill! 🙂
That Sheila is quite a character. We often joke about TonTon’s ability to sneak into photos but Sheila takes that into an entirely new level, doing you a favor in the process. She put on a show for you, giving you today’s post at the same time. Smart pig.
Fast shutter work, Ms C! I hope you get a chance to stop over – I met cows last week! First time 🙂
She is such a gorgeous, special girl! x
Are you OK? This is the first time I have not seen any comments to the comments.
Just thinking the same thing…
What would I do without my daily “Sheila” fix? The chicken peeping out of the barn is a sweet shot. Ah, another cold day on the farm. Same news here, cold wind blowing and snow flurries.
Oh my goodness, that Sheila is determined to have the starring role in the farmy show. Good captures of her in action. I have to use the viewfinder, too. I need a screen as big as my computer if I’m going to see what I’m taking a picture of!
love love love Sheila. She is going to make me break down and buy a couple of chubby sows. Just wait!
I never fail to walk away smiling after reading your posts… This one is especially heartwarming! 🙂
