We really don’t need too many words when the sun comes out.
Every animal seeks the sun. Which is good, as a solid dose of the sun is excellent for our health and well being. Not too much if you live back home in New Zealand but out here on the prairies of Illinois the sun is mild.
I felt unstoppable yesterday. The sun was a tonic.

Yes I am still wearing my clown suit and gumboots. It is warm but not that warm and I just don’t trust the weather. And Tima likes them. I made her a bed in the barn last night and she said Thank you very much and good night, crept into her rubbish bin and went to sleep without another word. She has other pigs grunting contendedly through her walls and I think she felt happy out there. Plus it is warmer. Though I hated leaving her outside. Had to be done. But she could have pretended to be reluctant. Do you want to see a shot of her little sleeping feet?
There that is how bonkers I am!
One of the compost heaps.
My 100 lavenders came and were allowed a little sun themselves. John s going to make lavender oils this year so I will pot them up and grow them on for a while before I plant them. It will be interesting to see if any of my other lavenders survived this winter.
And now off to work for me. The dawn is definitely coming earlier! Well it would, wouldn’t it.
Have a lovely day.

We waited a long time but yesterday and today were beautiful. Good that the farmy’s animals could be out and about again. You’re right. Everyone and everything does better with a little sunshine. I was busy all day today but hope to work in the backyard tomorrow. Don’t want these nice days to pass without anything to show for them. That pic of Tima has been forwarded. How could I not? Have a good night, Celi.
I have to thank you for your posts including Tima. It gives me a ‘pig fix’ til I can pick up mine. (April 23rd!!) It has been a pretty nice week in east central Wi. though a couple of days had a pretty fresh wind. We even hit 60* a few times. I’ve been able to clean a lot of debris out of the flower beds, even found some ice lingering there. All the animals are catching all the rays they can, I keep expecting the horses to topple right over. Sadly Monday should only be in the high 30’s. Sigh.
[Huge smile] I don’t think one has reached maturity until one dares to admit freely to being bonkers!! What joy 😀 !! Have to admit your legs + Tima is one of the most fun photos I have seen on my ‘morning run’ . . . .
You are NOT bonkers! I love seeing every little thing about that piggy. I’m such a city girl and for the first time ever you made me look up the possibility to have such a piggy but sadly they grow too large for our spot of land. Plus a couple of years ago we landscaped all of our land so we don’t have grass anymore. I just love the personality if that piggy and the lamb.
I would be interested in the lavender oil, particularly if it’s culinary!
sun drunk. We’ve been enjoying our sun here as well. I loves me some sun.
OH, piggy. Those little feet. This one’s got personality and will always offer something to laugh at – and merry companionship.
My lavenders are coming back! We had several cold cold winters, but they are back again – so maybe yours will survive if you wrap them in hay and plop a little pot over them as winter arrives? A favorite of the bees here…if Molly would just stop stomping them in here chases they’d be bigger. Luckily they seem to be determined. Enjoy the sun – we are today – rain the next few days and another cold front? Down into the upper 30’s at night? As long as there’s sun during the day!
I see nothing wrong in cooing over Tima’s tiny, delicate trotters. Mothers marvel at the delicacy of their baby’s fingers and toes. She’s a gorgeous, intelligent, good baby, just a little hairier than most…
