Doors to the chook house can get left open (probably by me actually) ..
and doors to the mind can get left open too.
And my international visitor is teaching me ever so gently that language is just another door that needs to be left open. Sign language and mime are powerful tools.
Today is Berit’s last day. He said to tell you that he is going to misss the farmy a lot. He meant it too. But family commitments draw him back home to Colorado. That is after one more hard day fencing! He will be deeply missed. Let’s hope he comes back one day.
Calves hate flies. They look like cow pimples. Everyone hates cow pimples.
Daisy is still doing well down the back. Everybody else is loitering. I could not believe how much energy I had yesterday without having to drag that chicken ark across the field four times a day. Sheila my big fat pig is enjoying the extra attention. Often when Sheila is standing in the field I lie my body on her. So I am thinking that tomorrow I might see if she will let me ride her. It will be an interesting experiment. Don’t you think. Shall I ride my pig into town? Would people think I was odd?
More fencing tomorrow.
I hope you all have a lovely day.
Your friend on the farmy
miss c

Please have your visitor take a picture of you and Sheila!
Yeah, definitely want a picture of you riding Sheila…please!
Will you let your hair down and what kind of attire ( if any at all ) will you be wearing when you ride Sheila into town?
You’ll be the new Lady Godiva promoting sustainable farming . CNN will broadcast you !!!!
I’m also voting for photographic evidence!
Colorado? He is from what part of Colorado?

Lyttleton. outside Denver I think?.. c
People will think you are odd for riding Sheila into town. That’s shouldn’t stop you, though. 😉
I would love to see you ride your pig into town!
ride the pig! ride the pig! Sheila will make news. Photo with you both/t-shirt, in book/calendar, whatever! Sheila the Pig lives!
I think if Sheila was a bit more biddable and a bit less opinionated about direction, she’d be brilliant at pulling a pig cart into town. They’ve done it with dogs and goats and ponies and donkeys, why not Sheilas?
Don’t forget to pad your nether regions, you might find they meet the ground rather quickly 🙂 yes, photos please.
Berit, thank you so much for helping out on the farmy! You have much to tell your peeps, I’m sure. If nothing else, you will return for C’s wonderful gourmet meals. 🙂
C riding Sheila….I can see it in my mind’s eye very clearly, tho how long you will remain astride will need to be documented well. I suggested you take Nanette’s advice. (I’ve been repeating “nether regions” to myself and giggling a lot since I read it)
The flies and horseflies bother the deer too. I don’t know any animal that escapes those wretched, buzzing blood suckers! Do you know Daisy deer actually allows me to swat them on her? I suppose a slap on the rump isn’t as bad as a sting… especially when it’s your loving mama doing the swatting (and I’m pretty good at it too)! I hope you are getting good rest with a lighter schedule?
My immediate thought reaction to Celi riding Sheila was “YouTube clip” 😉 I’m pleased, but not surprised, that Berit will miss the Farmy, and he in turn will be missed, a sure indicator of the success of his stay 🙂
I want to see a video of you riding Sheila!!! Do pigs buck and snort? Do they rear up or lay down and roll? Maybe a long stick with a donut on it in front of her face will get her going. lol I once rode one of our big Targhee sheep….not on purpose, mind you. I was determined to stop her and she was determined to keep going. So it was either get dragged or ride. Sheila should be cushy. Yes, Berit will be missed, for sure. So now you have some leisure time…..you have earned it. Enjoy it while you can.
The doughnut on a stick is an excellent idea, i sat on her today but she just stood there, the riding bit might be a problem!.. c
In quick order: Thank you Berit for having made our darling Miss C’s life a little easier – God bless and may things go well for you!! Grace – you look as if you well and truly live up to your name: love to see your photos – especially you interacting with children who probably would not have a clue where Korea is!! Hope your Mom feels a bit easier these days!! Celi: Were I you I surely would try ride Sheila into town – odd, but darlingHeart: methinks the erstwhile locals already know they have a very special lady amongst them! BUT: photo please!!!!!!!
Odd? No, no…certainly not. For goodness sake, get pictures! 😉
