The Thief

Lunch yesterday was a glorious break and the framing is in place for the new Bastard Mink Proof chook house wall.

Later I was sitting on the step below the bedroom French Doors, catching the slightest of breezes in the shade there (it was very hot yesterday)  and Tima the Terrible came wandering past looking for all the world like a lovely little piggie out for an afternoon stroll.

lunch-008

TonTon knew better though.

lunch-006

She sauntered on by, a happy little piggie. TonTon still unnconvinced.

lunch-011

Did you see that? Did you see that sideways smirky glance.  That pig gave me The Look!

After thinking about That Look for a minute  (It was a slow hot day) I followed  her … and sure enough. Tima the Terrorist. At it again.  Head deep in the tomato bushes.

She saw me, her bottom froze, then, without a warning beep, she  suddenly reversed back out. Turning like a mini bus she raced back past me squealing. Tacking port and starboard to avoid my scooping hands.  Her red ripe plunder held high in her mouth. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her  – down the garden path, past the house,  round the corner, across the fallen piece of firewood, under the tractor, through her droopy pallet gate and straight under the apple tree into her eating corner. There she came to a halt with a roadrunnner screech and blinked.  Safe, she gently placed her tomato on the ground, said her Grace like a good piggie  and proceeded to solemnly and thoroughly eat that big red lunch – with her mouth open. As you do. lunch-013

Naughty piggie.

lunch-028

This fly is the fly I hate the most.   It lands on my cows and literally sucks their blood. Horrible. It is a big black Horse Fly. I take a fly swat when I visit the cows now.  And even if I don’t have my fly swat I wack them with my hand. The cows are always grateful as they often land right where their own fly swattin’ tail cannot reach.

lunch-025

Here is a wider angle shot from above the table so you can see my open plan living area. Just for context. Do you see that very serious big steel plate on the left hand side of the table. That was on it when I bought it. It is screwed down.  Isn’t it great? It is an old machine shop bench. It has holes and cut off bits and worm damage and is held together with enormous obvious heavy duty screws. It seats nine comfortably and weighs A LOT.  I just love it.

I like furniture you can USE.  You know what I mean?

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy,

miss c

  1. Has Tima ever seen a picture of a roasted suckling pig with a crabapple in it’s mouth? She’d better be careful that piggy. Beautiful pictures.Your dining room is GORgeous. I love that table. Every heavy inch of it.

  2. LOVE the table! I found one at the back of the garage (while doing the clean-out for the move) that was made from a scrap of butcher’s block countertop and a set of folding legs…wish I had been aware of it long ago.
Wonderful shots today…Oh, and , “Bad Tima! No! And don’t look so smug!” 🙂

  3. She’s not getting the benefit of your cooking, and I’m sure she’d justify it with a need to ensure adequate Vitamin C… She knows she’s a naughty girl, but she’s pitting her considerable wits against you, and I’m afraid she’s a little bit ahead! That really is a very smug look she’s giving in the photo!

  4. Tima the terrible ha ha love it! Also love your table. It’s horrid here today. Rain rain go away come back another day! Typical English bank holiday weather x

  5. Such a lovely, bright dining area with big windows for great views! And is that Marmalade I see sauntering across the floor? I almost didn’t see him…he’s the same color as your lovely wood floor! 🙂

  6. Imagine .. stopping suddenly and reversing without beeping first – how rude 🙂 Beautiful table. You weather does look hot this week. Laura

  7. I do love your table! Oh the jewellery I could make on it! I could use that steel end for whacking things with hammers and as a fire proof place for soldering! Naughty Tima, Smart Tima!

  8. Is that table new or was I just oblivious of it when I was there? Surely I would have noticed that wonderful metal plate which makes a perfect spot for hot dishes! Beautiful. Tima has grown and is developing her lovely jowls. She is as big as Ton! I’m sure she was chanting to herself. “I’m a good girl, I’m a good girl, don’t notice me heading towards the tomatoes, la la la la. i’m invisible, i’m invisible. Ton can’t see me” Smart, sneaky pig is Tima the Terrible.

Wonderful getting work done on the chook house. That must be a good feeling.

    Have a wonderful day, C!

    • It was a display table in a little second hand shop that I have been in and out of for years and I finally talked them into selling it to me.. So it is new in a way..c

  9. Oh what a wonderful piggy she is,so full of fun and naughtiness. You cannot help but love those little trotters.
.maybe you should sit her down and explain that tomatoes go very well with fried bacon!
We also had trouble with horse flies. I tried everything, mint, vinegar, oil ,covering the donks but there was no way to stop them nasty creatures. Why did God make them?

  10. Naughty piggie indeed!!
That is a horsefly and they HURT when they bite. Is there anything you can spray on the cattle to keep the flies off (for the most part)?

  11. My husband Rob and I read about the farmy at breakfast each day. Tima is a great favourite of ours so today’s post set us up for the day. Might the photo of her with her stolen treat be one for the calendar? Fabby table, Miss C!
