Electrics

I did not blog yesterday because I was undergoing a Power Surge. I began to write at 4am.  Then went onto the internet to begin sending. Nothing.  All of a sudden.  It came back after a while but flickered in and out.

Later in the morning after getting the girls to help me tidy all the trailers into one corner, I  tried starting the mower.  It started once then it died, then nothing. Dead battery all of a sudden.

Pumping with energy  and wanting to stay busy, I poured the girls into the cooking oil car so we could go out to the old farm to take cuttings of the willows. Drove over there just fine. Tried to start the car again. Nothing. Dead battery all of a sudden.

I called the Matriarch who came and collected us. After we had fiddled about trying to get her car doors to unlock so we could get in, she  dropped the girls home and then me back to the old barn.  I began to strim the growing grass under the electric fences with my weed eater.  It worked for a short while then I had to change battery for a new one. Shortly they were both dead about two hours too soon. So I walked back home.

Once I was back I  looked at the White truck but that would not start either. electrics-013

So I quit and went in to make a cold dinner.

After work Our John had to get his battery jumper starter thingy and go around and jump start everything. The truck, the car and the mower. ALL the batteries were dead.  With no warning.  All dead.

“Can I borrow your work truck to drive across the way to put the calves to bed,”  I said. “Ah no.” he answered. “I think I will drive you.”

I was PUMPING!

Isn’t that weird though? Maybe there is something in the moon. (Though I have to admit this is not the first time this has happened),  though usually I don’t suck the power out of three vehicles in a day.

I hope you have a great day.

Love your friend on the farmy,

miss c

  1. Well, now I know where you get all your energy. You suck it out of all the batteries on the place…..a little overzealous yesterday, though.

  2. You took it quite calmly. There would have been swear words involved in my world. Also, I had a dream that we met and I was confused that you had no accent but thought maybe you had been here so long you had lost it. AND I got to meet Tima and all the other pigs (including the ones that aren’t with us anymore) but no Sheila, she was at home. Sigh.

  3. Glad you survived the power surge unscathed. You were fortunate that it did not do permanent damage to your computer. Stay safe and well, your holiday approaches!

  4. ‘m surprised you kept trying. I wold have put on rubber boots and gloves, sat in a corner, waiting for a lightning strike. Maybe I’ve been reading too many Stephen King books. 🙂
