The electricity problem is back.. not car batteries this time but electric lights.
Over the last 24 hours I have blown two lights in the barn, (the moment I switch the lights on – BAM they blow with a loud Tick), Sheila’s bedroom light, the outdoor lights on the verandah (both of them) my bedroom light (who needs a light in there anyway) and the washing machine pump spat the dummy (all over the floor – which is fine I hate that basement floor anyway.)
I keep telling John if concrete was not so expensive I would back one of those big bumble bee trucks up to the steps and push a hose down into the basement and fill the nasty thing up with cement. But that has nothing to do with my electric shock treatments.
Do you remember when the three phase gave me a zap in the chook house and threw me onto the ground. Do you think it has been worse since then? I do see in the dark very well, luckily as the torches won’t work for me either. That is if I can find one.
Anyway there you are, we are now in the dark with smelly clothes. Even though my arms are tingly – I have been handwashing the clothes. Washing clothes by hand is nice really. That gentle motion of lifting and pushing down into the warm sudsy water wringing them out then squeezing the excess out with a towel, lying them on racks to dry. When I hang them up to dry above the fire all my clothes end up smelling like garlic. We eat garlic with every meal. Every day. No-one complains.
In six weeks I am off again to New Zealand for Senior son’s wedding. Did I tell you? I am quite the traveller this winter. My families are very generous. Lucky the farm does not have to pay for it, the animals and I could never make that kind of money. Though Sheila is officially assured of fresh fruit and veges at every meal for the next year. Thank you all very much.
Good morning. Sometimes I think that houses are like organisms, if one thing goes wrong other things fall in after it. We need to keep a balance. In many things.
I hope you have a lovely day.

Ohh do be careful ! I’m always apprehensive around electrical things. Don’t go getting another shock x
I hate electrical problems because you can SEE them like you can see a broken window or a cockeyed door.
Sheila’s dish of food looks good enough for me to eat! I hate electrical problems, an early attempt to fix something broken with a screwdriver, led to me flying across the bedroom to land with a thump on the floor! Now I leave the ‘electrics’ to the experts. Hope your problem is soon sorted.
Sorry to hear you have electrical problems again. Hoping for a safe, quick fix.
I hope there is an immediate cheap and easy solution to solve the electricity problems; you are all too highly valuable to be harmed!
Love that picture of the teapot and of course the kitties.
Hi Celi, love your photos. You have a terrific eye and wonderful subjects 🙂
Shortly after we had our electric lines put under ground rather than on a pole in the yard and had the meter and brand new box moved to the house we kept experiencing odd flickering lights and things running at half speed then reving up. Turns out the electric guys never tightened the ground in the brand new box outside thereby giving us surges. Luckily we didn’t blow out any appliances or anything! Best to have a pro check it, electricity is scary, it’s always there and you can’t see it!
That is scary!.. c
I hate it when things don’t work properly. Hopefully you will get it all sorted out quickly and be back up and running like normal. A teakettle AND kitten pictures today made my day!
could be good idea to call coupe electric guy.he may find something he did to cause problem. and may, wishful thinking, give you a discount.
Do be careful, Ceii.
Our house goes through weird phases like that too. Always makes me wonder. Twice since we moved in I’ve had to replace multiple light bulbs in one day. Although, I do mostly buy the inexpensive ones as I’m a bit of a rebel when it comes to the government telling me which ugly colored light bulbs I should use. lol How scary to be shocked so much that it threw you to the ground! Be careful! We had a big wind storm the other night and it knocked some Christmas lights off one of the trees outside. I went out to hang them up and evidently one was broken because is shocked me. Certainly not to your extent, but enough to really give me a jolt. They have some science behind shock therapy…maybe it will be good for us in the long run? 😉
I love your humor. A must have for farm life.
We used to hand wash clothes at the farm – but we also had a crank wringer standing about shoulder high on the back porch to squeeze most of the water out. YEs, blue jeans do “dry”/freeze stiff if hung outside …my dad did that just to make us laugh. He grew up in an unheated dogtrot house with a fireplace/stove in the kitchen and that was it. Managed to live through it, so I have hope for all of us (giggles).
