We had sun all day yesterday. Sun! It is so long since we had a sunny day. So long that we have sat under that tin lid sky. The sun drew everyone up out of their houses, we were all giggly and I completely lost the kune kune. They wriggled through the fences and were grazing right at the back of Pats Paddock. Thrilled to bits with themselves.
Ton minds them so they were safe and when I called they ran like crazy things all the way back to the barn.
Boo of course lined all the kittens up and gave them a lecture on not talking to stangers. Most of them yawned and went to sleep. Naturally Boo was appalled. This was a serious talk.
When Tane finally made it back to the barn he Stood on Tima’s back to make his point. What the point was I am not terribly sure but he sure made it! Tima was deeply unimpressed.
Sheila and Poppy stood and chatted by the work bench as I patched and worked fixing stuff. Not electrical stuff obviously. But it was so warm that I was able to work outside for most of the day. I did get the water sorted out at the West barn and all the Rhode Island Reds are installed in their seperate run in the chook house. Once they all know each other I will set them free. But we don’t want any riots. Though for all their size the new roosters are pretty calm with new chooks. And the cross between these big roosters and the Rhode Islands are the eggs I want to incubate and hatch.
I still have trouble taking shots of Elsie through Daisy’s window. Not Elsie’s fault of course, she is only a cow after all. She tosses her head like a dizzy blonde. You have to watch her.
Good morning. The Son of Neanderthol man is much happier with his trimmed beak. He is such an old bird. Good old fella.
I hope you have a lovely day.
Your friend on the farm,
celi
ps. For the record, all the images you see were taken yesterday on my own little farm, this is one of my promises. Plus if you see an image you want. Steal it. Go on – life is too short. If you want it in a higher resolution email me – I will sed it to you. If you put it on your site, credit me. That is all. Otherwise just steal it. And laugh!

On the weekend we were in the country, there were lots of cows with cute calves at foot and I remarked to the G.O. “I think it does your heart good to see cows… and pigs and sheep and chickens and cats and dogs…” I guess that’s why I’m here everyday, and for The Fellowship 🙂
I think Tane is giving you the serious talk “Now listen Miss C, we are big pigs now and can go anywhere we like and do what we want, we don’t need you to mother us”
Every day I send our son (46 years old) photographs of the kittens and their minder. Every day it’s “Mom please I want those kittens”. He is besotted with them. We all are!!
“Howdy contact” is always the safe way. Let them make friends while they can’t touch each other! You are a wise keeper.
What a lovely happy post. Sun cheers us all up, even second hand. It was very cold here today, with a touch of sleet.
Wonderful to read such a happy post: the first in a week! Have to catch up on the rest if my temporary computer line stays there 🙂 ! Five days ago a direct lightning strike hit on our phone exchange and simply wiped that one out . . . no phones, no computers for anyone . . . since am specially registered because of heart arrhythmias, have been given a ‘patched line’ for a few hours to catch up with a very overfilled box . . . . Glad you had the sun – we are having half a very humid day at 35 C plus and half a day of hail and thunder and this is meant to continue every day for the next week! I’d almost have your cold 🙂 !!!!!
hope they get your phones back on soon.. Don’t you love those patched lines, i can just see the patches, pink or maybe an orange green paisley! denim? but we need it back.. fingers crosses.. c
Roaring with laughter and shall ‘patch’ across to some of those concerned!!!!! Celi darling – methinks some of these guys just waiting to be off for the weekend might not have ‘orange green paisley’ thinking patterns !! OK – more fun for us 🙂 !
the world over these fellows are heroes, i know they are paid and all that, but they are out in the worst of the weather, trying to get the electricityand internets back on.. thank god for these boys and girls.. c
amen . . .
i will try to be polite, as my west virginia holy roller parents taught me.
but some of the more sensitive readers may want to skip this post
when tane reaches the ”age of consent,”and poppy is feeling especially ”romantic”, will it be difficult to keep them seperated, due the both of their houdini genes?
or being different types of pigs, will they ignore each other?
if should they accually manage to go on a unchaperoned date, would the offspring be pets?or future freezer campers?
hey, that’s nature, but I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe someone will know! 🙂
um yes, this could happen, though poppy is in lock down during her heats, however that tane is a llittle fella and might bring his own stool.. I have read of berkshire/ kune crosses so it can be done.. If that should happen (and once he is bigger he will not be able to get out as easily) the progeny would make some very good sausages.. we just have to make sure we AI Poppy in time, (late january) good point though ron and a rather terrifying one!
Love all the animal pictures but you know we’re softies about the kitties!
I would love to see Elsie toss her head like a dizzy blonde! Oh, and Son of Neanderthol man is posing quiet stoically – quite serious. I just love all of these candid photographs!
Elsie is not used to Blog Stardom. She will get used to it. You are very generous to share your lovely photos.
Oh that Tane! Quite the heartthrob, for a pig that is. Loving all your sunshine shots today, Celi. I couldn’t believe that I was able to work in shirt sleeves today. It was so strangely warm.
I’m missing the sun and the moon and warmth here also. But the Canadian Geese are thick and loud and close enough I could touch them if I wanted. But I do’nt want to scar them off so I just listen and enjoy.

Everyone seems content today. Frolicking or yawning in the sun. As always, Boo and Ton have their work cut out for them.
Such brilliant photos but I don’t envy the cold coming!
