Kitty Toys

You wanna come and play, kitty?

So all the kittens were named and presented with name tags.  Counted, catagorised, sorted and inspected. Four of them being identical and all that, they had to have names. They were carted about. Taught to dance. Played in towers.  Talked to. Watched and watched.

Made new friends.

Kitties as toys. (After the children left they all lay on the floor and slept the rest of the day away).

We did some farming too.

It was warm 40F ( 4C). So we filled the water troughs and marched about the hay bales, before feeding some out.

chaos1-060These children are some of the lucky ones. This is their farm. They say to their friends we are going to the farm after school.  The farm, not A farm.  The Farm.

Macaroni Cheese is one of their favourite lunches when they come to visit. Not yellow and not out of a box.

Good morning. The coyotes were out howling last night. An old, old sound. An ancient threat. Boo howls back at them from the sensibly safety of the verandah. Then goes back to sleep in his bucket. was it a full moon last night? It was very full. The fields glow silver these nights, denuded of all vegetation as though the light comes from within the ground itself. Exposed by the winter and its moon.

I hope you have a lovely day.

There is a kitten climbing my leg like a tree. Time to get to work!

Love your friend on the farm

  1. I bet those kitties were tired! And had sweet dreams. The fleece in the dog beds sounds warm and snuggly. (not this post, but I forgot to mention it previously)

  2. Alas, my kitties are too old now to climb my leg (15 years), but they rock at giving me the stink-eye. How did Boo take to having his job usurped for the day? The Mac & Cheese looked scrumptious.

  3. Over the years we have managed to acquire, by something between happens and chance, four cats. A common sentence heard from me, “That cat’s crazy, but I repeat myself.” Actually they are kinda cute but don’t tell ’em I said that.

    Great post.

  4. Today’s post was especially precious. What is more enchanting than adorable kittens and beautiful sweet girls. Thank you for this Monday morning gift. I was born in ILLINOIS, but my parents came to sunny California in the 40’s so to read about your life in Ill. fills me with enjoyment. I have been in the city too long and your blog is a gift. I found it through the Dancing Donkey blog. I enjoy her farm animals too.

    • welcome delrene.. right this moment I am writing with kittens on the keyboard, sticking their noses in the wine glass and gathering on my feet.. so glad to have you along for the ride!.. c
