Boo Paying No Attention At All

BooBoo caught on film! BooBoo Bloopers. He thinks no-one is watching but we are all watching this dog.

Sundays are Podcast Days so make sure to have signed up at SubStack then your podcast will be delivered straight to your inbox on Sunday.

Substack is where I write on Sundays.

All week I gather Farmy Soundscapes and choose the best for Wednesday on SubStack. I have a few sweet vids that I cannot use over at SubStack – mainly due to my lack of technical expertise. Here is one such vid of BooBoo. Just for us.

As a paid up member of SubStack you will get a longer one of these every Wednesday.

(Subscriptions at SubStack all go to the pigs of course – it is $5 a month). Go here to sign up. And either as a free reader or a paid up member; I welcome you all!

I really love this little vid and wanted to share it with you all. Let me know what you think.

PLUS; In the interests of multi media Monday:

Here is your Sunday Podcast. It is Free!

Cleaners do exist you know.

I called this podcast Old in the Service of the Young but as usual I don’t much like that headline.- it is more about seeing the people around us. Seeing the people who clean up after us.

Let me know.

Monday is doctor day for my elder so I am a bit late getting this blog post out to you.

White Chickens

I have lost two white chickens in the last two days.

It has suddenly turned quite cold. But I don’t think that is the problem. Meat chickens are not well bred – in bred I would say- and are known for the occasional congenital abnormality which often presents when they get to a certain weight.

I am hoping that is the problem anyway. Because they have a month to go and are a ways from their target weight yet.

They have two heat lamps in their bedroom so I know they are warm. I am feeding them a lower protein feed for a few days to slow their growth down. Plus they get a huge stock pot of cooked and blended veges every day so I know their diet is good.

In the day time they are out in their yard sleeping in pockets of sunshine. And look really vigorous and sturdy.

On Thursday I am making a run for California to attend to a family matter. So I have some organizing to do.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Boo clearly has other, more important things on his plan for the day, but even as an old boy it’s so fun to watch them enjoy a good roll and scratch. I loved the Substack story, then forgot to comment there. It brought to mind many moments in my own history and the worlds history of privilege and power reading your words. Safe travels and quick (I hope) resolutions.

  2. Loved the video clip – and the grunting of Wai? – as he sees the feed going down for the chickens. 😉 Boo did a great job of acting his part centre stage. I read your ‘See Me’ post on Substack. That’s how I think of it ‘See Me!’ When I was a teacher it bothered me how some people totally discounted our custodial staff. The staff room would be for teachers – and the custodians had their own huddle in the furnace room. Literally! At a number of schools I worked at I began joining them there. At first they were a bit amused by my showing up. But often times the conversation was just more real there. Eventually – in my last school – only had five classes (Kindergarten to Gr 8) – little country school – we ALL just hung out together. Made for a much more fun existence as a staff. I’m enjoying your writing!

    • That is a great story. And the country school sounds so much more sensible.
Did you see the movie – actually the series – The Queens Gambit. It has some beautiful scenes in the furnace room. I was confused as to why he was down there – now I understand! Was it warm down there? I have always wondered.
