Surely this old pig can not be this tired?
Tima the kunekune pig is like a heat seeking missile – a very chubby, bovine, heat seeking missile – when she spies an empty lap. She trots over and lays her tired head in said lap and is snoring within minutes.

Wriggling every now and then to ensure comfort (for herself). (This was an impossible shot to get – Boo would be a lot more useful if he could take photographs!).

Her head is SO HEAVY, I had to slip Her Sleepiness off my legs and lay her beside my legs for MY comfort. She does not care. She is like Boo; as long as I am close by she is happy.
Back To Work

We are off out to collect more wood out of the hedge apple wind break today. Our last warm day that I can see. Hedge Apple wood is pioneer wood – it grows very slowly and burns like coal as the Old Codger would say. Lucky I inherited a splitter. It is very hard to split.
Click on the picture of Mr Flowers so you can look at his eye. It is like a human eye.
The peacock eye is so hard to get in focus because his head is always twitching back and forth in case some chicken food comes flying over the fence.

Substack
My other major content creation platform. (Though of course the kitchens garden farm blog will always be my favourite platform !). Talk of platforms makes me think of GoGo dancers!

Anyway. My site over at SubStack is still developing and is beginning to catch some traction. Please sign up for SubStack to listen to my Sunday Podcast (it is still free). For my Paid Subscribers: (for the price of 2 coffees a month) you also receive 10 minutes of gentle calming farm sounds with pictures (though the sounds are what attract me) delivered straight to your inbox, 5 days a week. I have been searching for a long time for a way to fund the farm without selling meat and The Farmy Soundscape is the best so far!
I am hoping to save enough to take on another rescue pig (my fields are too lush for a donkey) and buy Mr Flowers a wife. Maybe a mail order bride!! (Don’t tell John though – you know how he is).
I know many of you have been reading this blog for the longest time! I so appreciate you being on this journey with me. If you cannot afford to subscribe I ABSOLUTELY understand – if you can help me spread the word instead by sharing The SoundScape with your readers I would love that.
If you are already signed up (at SubStack: $5 a month is the basic rate) tell us what you think in the Lounge of Comments. Testimonials work. We would love to hear from you!
So far all the proceeds from SubStack go towards feeding the rescue animals, like Jude and FreeBee.
There was a free 10 minute SoundScape yesterday evening for all subscribers. Go here to have a listen. It is Jude and FreeBee sleeping in the deep straw in the old barn and all the gentle sounds that surround them.
What do you do when you are listening? Barn sounds are a beautiful soundtrack for yoga stretches. Or just 10 minutes to have a think – a break from the bloody world.
Zazzle
Zazzle is where the Farmy T Shirts and coffee cups are – my shop is getting a clean up and being dragged kicking and screaming into the year 2023! We are working fast so you can buy some new Farmy T Shirts for Christmas presents. Zazzle will deliver them for you!
And postcards! Maybe even Christmas cards!
I will let you know when the new products are ready!
What products would you buy? Suggestions are welcome. Always. Of Course!

Time thinks she’s a dog …or even a human!
Isn’t that the truth Mad?!? It’s almost like she is one of us!!! Definitely one of the Fellowship of the Farmy! A starring character, that’s for sure! 🙂
Indeed!
She certainly has a way about her.
Ha ha – she thinks she’s in charge!
A mail order bride for Mr Flowers, that would be wonderful, UNLESS he has grown so used to be an old and contented widower. Hope it happens and works!
Sub stack is brilliant and worth every penny, dime? Cent?
I am thrilled with all I can do on SubStack too – it has such potential to spread the Farmy message !
Wonderful:)
I do love the pig sleeping on your lap! I’m sure if you kept her there too long, parts of your body would fall asleep. xo
Her head is incredibly heavy. Like a sack of spuds!
At least toward you Tima is a sweetheart isn’t she… Possibly a friend for Mr. Flowers…Quaker may be upset 😉
Tima loves anywhere and anyone who supplies food. She really is the friendliest of pigs.
hahahaha
I was so excited about catching up Celi and there sure is a lot. Was not even sure what substack was but will find out! And how I love that pig and Boo
I used to work in a large animal / livestock veterinary clinic – if we had say a lone injured goat (or sheep or calves etc) that had to stay in the clinic for overnights – maybe days, I used to hunt up ‘farm audios’ online and play them in the recovery on a loop. I like to think it helped the animals to hear familiar sounds when they were confined to a quiet sterile pen by themselves.
I love this idea!! And will add farm audios to my tags – learning all the time!
