Marmalade Cats and Bowls

Our Two marmalade cats (LuLu and Vandal) (Naturally Vandal is the cat sitting on top of the grill), looking at the array of feeding bowls (collected over time from second hand shops) and wondering which bowl might contain their dinner.

Chickens in front of old barn, and winter trees, and blue sky.

I keep videoing hoping to catch Quacker flying in. She does it every now and then. Alerted by scattering squawking chooks, I will look up and there she is. Airborne. And coming in to land flat feet, first like a cartoon. If she sees the buckets coming out and she is up at her pond she will literally fly across the yard to catch up with the flock.

Her flight is like a low flying bomber but her landings need some practice.

You are going to see a lot of the birds this winter. The bright spots in the day.

Last night, once I got in after work – late – I took a glass of wine in to work a little in the glasshouse. I can never go straight to bed.

Tomato plants in winter glass house.

I need to give the tomatoes a little LESS attention though – the leaves are starting to curl due to too much water. Getting the balance right is difficult. There are piles of flowers and a few tiny set tomatoes so far. One or two to pick a week. Each of these tubs is drained but the media is old. The thought of digging these out and adding new soil makes ME feel old.

I collect the water from the shower in a bucket as the water warms up so I have plenty of water!

This is a shot I took WHILE DRIVING to work of the most interesting cloud formation. I knew it could not possibly turn out, what with almost no light and from a moving car. But I like it.

Here it is in Black and White.

Which I like better. A little Spooky. Atmospheric! Imagine that printed onto aluminum and hung above the fireplace. You would think you were going blind!

Something is coming in to land. And it is not Quacker.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Many of our outside plants go into our garage room with lots of light for the winter. We have a wonderful lemon tree that we are harvesting lemons from as they ripen. Gosh, the cloud formation is a bit spooky, I must agree… Actually very Sci-Fi like! Almost like it’s ready to suck one up into a parallel universe!!! Eek!!!

  2. Vandal and Lulu color coordinate with the spent flowers shining in the sun! Those cardinals will be lovely to see with a snowy backdrop. The color is brilliant.
