My bag remains packed. I will change out the few hard-cold items for a few lighter layers more suited to an autumnal Southern Hemisphere. But that is all. Basically it will remain the same small cabin bag. More on packing light for a long trip later.
It is still raining!
In fact last night it poured for the longest time.

I did not shift FreeBee and Jude because they appear to be quite happy where they are. With the cows. FreeBee may even have put on a little weight.
You can see from this image that their little house has been knocked off course from those two big lugs jamming themselves in there. It used to be at right angles to the chicken tractor tank.

I will get more straw in their houses today.
Ordinary farming yesterday. Collecting the eggs from in the barn. And other odd egg depositories.

As I walked about with my ever growing collection of pig eggs Boo put himself in charge of guarding the bucket. His eye on Tima the whole time. Tima and Wai are their usual selves. They will have hard boiled eggs today for their pig breakfasts.
My farm friends will be coming once a week while I am away so I am putting a teenager in charge of searching the barn for eggs each week. This should cut down on the number of roosters hatched while I am away.
Did I tell you I ordered the new laying chicks and a few turkeys and ducklings. They arrive the week I arrive back. My farm friends will have everything ready for them.
I leave again on Sunday. Flying out to San Fran. From there I will catch my direct flight to Australia.

Next stop: Melbourne for a few days then on to Wellington in New Zealand.

To be clear this is not a vacation- it is a relocation. A frequent relocation as I visit with each family member. Spreading the message of planet friendly living. I will continue to post here and at TKG Take Ten each weekday. I take my writing with me. I take you with me. My work continues.
Have a lovely morning!
Thank you so much for your support of the evening edition of TKG while I was in Canada. Though, due to travel, the Sustainable Sunday newsletter did not go out. But. I just completed a gorgeous early morning TKG Take Ten for The Tenners. I was amazed at the sheer volume of birdsong this morning. So many different birds.
This will publish at 5 pm Central time as usual. Upgrade HERE if you would like to join The Tenners.
Canmore was quite silent in comparison to the farm. The cold has a lot to do with it. That dry cold. And geography of course. We are back in the lowlands, now. The birds here are a delight. The trees we have planted over the past few years have a lot to do with this. Hard to believe that there were only a few old elms when I first arrived here eighteen years ago.
Here on the farm it is dripping wet. The ground is soaked. The trees are greening up fast. Now all we need is a little warmth. But I think I will be gone again before that happens.
Lots of Love. Lots of thank yous.

I look forward to your packing tips. I went to Madagascar for 2 weeks with only a carry-on and still felt like I could have gone lighter.
Down Under is slowing down for winter. The 7 day forecast for Melbourne is for cooler, with rain, so pack for wet feet. Up here, I still have passionfruit and sugar bananas to harvest, and the roadside stalls are still offering pawpaws and avocados. Can’t wait for the cooler weather so I can do longer dog walks with Higgins and not come home in a muck sweat.
