Off Out to the Beach TODAY

When I travel I jog from one son or brother or sister to another and then one friend to another dragging my little cabin bag behind me like an obedient dog.

I am in the process of re-packing my little cabin bag up again. Finding anything that has drifted out of place. Rolling and stowing everything back in its designated compartment in the travel bag. Traveling light. I have my garden jacket hanging on a bush by the gate already. My NZ gardening gumboots at attention below. I am so looking forward to getting out to the beach. After a lovely stay in the city oasis, up here in the wild garden on the hill we will exchange this jaggedy city horizon for the long flat west coast beach.

We will be back though – you and I – in ten days.

Fourth son will come to collect me at lunch time today and off we go.

We had a barbie last night – in America this would be called grilling out. The usual fare of steak and potato salad, mushrooms stuffed with chimi churri and greens from the garden plus late season corn.

And look at this grill! Huge.

Here are the links to my three fav vids this week:

  • Listened to the Tui. (The early morning Tui vid will release in a couple of hours. So if you are signed up it will arrive in your inbox shortly. This next TKG Take Ten one has the best Tui calls. I tried to count how many different calls the bird made but it is hard).

This morning my little friends and I will go up the hill again for a walk along the ridge before I leave.

I am finally getting my hill legs!

Have a lovely day/night and talk soon. Your next shots will be from the beach!

  1. It sounds wonderful! Enjoy the beach.

I like the look of those houses nestled into the hillside, and so much greenery surrounding them. It looks peaceful! That’s how we should all live. Incidentally, I was listening to a BBC Radio 4 program earlier about urban horticulture in Singapore and it’s huge there, they described it as “a city in a garden” 🌳

  2. I can taste that corn! How lovely that you get such varied places to lodge while you visit!
