There is a lot of mud in the pig pens now. A LOT of mud.
I was reminded of a pig wrestling quote in an opinion piece yesterday and laughed out loud! Not something I often do when reading the political news.
“Never wrestle with a pig because you’ll both get dirty and the pig likes it,”
George Bernard Shaw.

“Nah, bro,” says the pig. “I won’t get you dirty!” Dead serious, his face. If he had eyebrows he would wiggle them. Then his mischievous twinkle flips to badness and turning they all shriek, laughing hyenas hurling themselves back into the mud-fling of the frey!

The shanty town.

The calf hut was set with on top of the baby pig house. Everyone is set now. Under cover. Feeding routines in writing. Ready for me to leave them tomorrow.

I always fret a little but I have a good team this year.
Lunchtime when I walked down to the letter box.

I hope that we have no rain today!
Evening walk with Boo on a string.

Three days of children and one more to go. These children are wild and tired but doing well. Boo has to be shut in the study – (and taken out for supervised walks) when the little kids are here, he is not so good with these kids, he keeps trying to herd them back into the house.
I have a lot to do today. A LOT!
Flying out to California tomorrow for a not-rest.
Have a good one!
I will pop in on Monday! I have guest posts to bring you next week!
Take care

Nanny Boo herds the children back into the house – how funny!
Yes indeed, that’s the job of a Blue Heeler, and Boo takes his job very seriously!!! 🙂
I can imagine him writing out the health and safey check list.
Pond X
Large Cows X
Hungry Pigs X
Snakes X
Roosters X
Tractor X
Lawnmower X
Ha!! That is awesome! he frequently checks the tires of the mower – with his teeth!!
ROFL. Some of the foxes here mark the car tyres with their scent. Later on another fox comes along and attacks the tyre …and in a few instances bursts it! It’s happened at least 4 times.
Boo knows his job and doesn’t discriminate between humans and animals!
Hoping that all goes well out in CA. Looks as though you have all under control with capable folks ‘holding down the Farmy’ while you’ll be away. Wonderful! 🙂
it takes a bit or organization with so many pigs and wandering birds this year but I hope things go well.
Perfect quote for a political setting I think. Take care as you travel and know the farmy will be fine.
It will be what will be.
I have indeed managed to live to this age and never wrestled a pig. Thank goodness.
as have I! 😂
In one of your pics I see those wind turbines on the horizon. How do you feel about them? When we drive through Illinois on our way to Wisconsin I always feel vaguely threatened by them, they look like dangerous aliens out there marching towards the highway.
that is a big question. They are very industrial in our rural landscape and the flashing lights interfere with the pathways of nocturnal creatures of the sky. But they are way less threatening than the nuclear power plants out here.
great quote, very accurate. I can understand the desire to herd the wild children, and hopefully you can sleep on the plane )
I have a day off before I begin with the next lot of children so I am going to sleep in front of Netflix!!
bravo
We had a Blue Heeler/Australian shepherd/Dingo mix who loved to herd. He had never seen cows but on his first visit with my late mother-in-law’s cows, he went immediately to work. It was amazing. My cat doesn’t like my grandsons, so she also has to be shut up in a room sometimes. That pig quote is very true especially for today’s politics.
the dingo in that mix must have been a wild card. Ton hears the children arrive, and immediately decamps to the Laundry. !!
Travel safe. I will heed your warning to never wrestle with pigs. xo
sensible girl!
Sage advice. I shall write it down… I wonder if it can be applied to small children, too. It sounds as if you are leaving the Farmy in fine fettle and safe hands. Travel in safety, arrive in health. And good luck.
all those those things! 😂
It makes me tired to read all the things you do. 🙂
It makes me tired to write them!! 🏃🏽♀️➡️
