Visitors Get Bread

I only ever bake bread now when I have guests.

And they gobble it up.

So I don’t!! 😂 I find a fresh loaf of bread so hard to resist!

They are all still asleep. (The guests). So hopefully I have time to write. The harvesters across the road have been running all night – so I also hope they slept. But it is the time of year.

One of my friends is a chef and he loves to come here and play ‘Chopped’. Did you ever watch that program? I have got a chicken out of the freezer – and he will go picking in the last of the garden.

His partner is a brilliant forager so I always look forward to what they serve.

It will be called Farm to Fall.

Yesterday evening had some lovely light.

In fact yesterday we had rain and hail and high northerly winds

It was a four season day.

Good morning.

. It went below freezing this morning.

I hope you have a great day or at least find great moments in your day to celebrate. It can’t be all good all the time! But there are still lots of good moments in there.

Take care and Talk soon

  1. So glad you finally got rain! We are still waiting for it down here. Last night I had to group plants together out front and on the back porch too. And cover our lemon tree with sheets as we had a frost warning for both last night and tonight. I’ll uncover them all today and cover them back up tonight. The fall garden is fine with temperature drops. We’ll be back up into the 70s on Friday and a day or two in the 80s next week. I don’t want to say goodbye to the summer!!!

  2. Posting that bread with the announcement that you only make it for guests is a temptation for every one of us to descend on your farm. It looks amazing!! Yes! Chopped is so much fun. I always loved that show. Let us know how the meal turns out. Very curious about what gets foraged and featured! x

  3. Yay for guests! That’s the thing about fall, it doesn’t know what season it wants to be. All four in one day, that’s a little bit much! Thanks for the lovely photos in golden light.

  4. ” It can’t be all good all the time!” Truer words were never spoke (or written). Life is definitely not like that: ups and downs, sunny and rainy, happy and sad and on and on. You just don’t get out of it without some of the negatives. Unfortunately so many people believe the opposite and so lots and lots of whining ensues.

  5. I have the same problem with bread… I make rolls a lot more now, since they’re tidily pre-portioned and two rolls is much more piggy than “oh, just another slice… or two”.
