wolf moon to read by

Last night’s full moon was so bright I did not need a light to read. I was moon bathing in my bed.

Wolf Moon.

I was a little too early and I don’t think I was able to capture Mars. (Though thanks for the heads up Jim). I saw Venus though.

I think.

This morning we have full cloud coverage.

And more snow.

The cows and pigs (and Boo) have very heavy winter coats. Thick and warm.

Headless rooster. Not every picture says the right things!

Today is going to be another cold day and I have turned into a hibernating bear. Other than jogging across to check on/feed the MIL I go nowhere. I don’t want to go anywhere. I have no interest in shopping or gossiping or walking (even though walking is not a thing in these temperatures).

Good morning !

PS I have recorded the first chapter of Wind in the Willows. If you have subscribed to my SubStack platform it will appear in your inbox at 5pm Central Time. There are many reasons why I love to read BedTime stories but I also love that I can do this anywhere. No matter where in the world I am, I can read a chapter to you and give you the opportunity to relax and listen and connect again to your childlike love of bedtime stories.

I have found that reading and listening to these bedtime stories as an adult (remembering them from childhood) brings a beautiful extra watercolor layer of imagery. As though my own child-self blinks back into focus a little. I missed her.

I think this is important.

Season One was Alice in Wonderland

Season Two is Wind in the Willows – Chapter One coming out in just a few hours.

  1. The Wolf Man in the Moon was a little obscured by clouds here last night, but Venus was bright and has been for a few weeks. I will try to see Mars tonight…

  2. That is a stunning photo of the moon! Beautiful pink hues in the sky. It looks like a watercolour.

I’ve noticed the weather often changes around or just after the full moon. Here in my corner of the UK it’s brought a warmer spell after over a week of freezing conditions. I hope it warms up for you too!

    • I am so glad you are warming up. We do have a couple of days ahead that go up above freezing but plummeting again straight after.

I am hoping we can get the hoses out to fill all the waters back up before it freezes again.

  3. Great images of the moon. There are too many trees here to really see the sky. Even in winter there’s a lot of branches that obscure things. We’ve been having snow on and off with a good bit of wind and it’s cold. A good day to settle down with a good book (The Big House: A Century in the Life of an American Summer House by George Howe Colt), hot mug of something and enjoy being warm.

  4. We all look at the same moon! Last night it was cloudy so so far the better view was the night before including Mars & Venus, I think. Hopefully better viewing tonight, a day later is usually bigger & brighter here.
