busy in the city

Good morning everyone. I am not sure if these pics will come through. Something to do with a space quota that I don’t have time to sort out this morning. Fingers crossed!

We have a baby scan day today so today’s post will be short and sweet.

Lots of greens coming out of the garden.

This weeks work is getting the shed tidy and in order. It has drifted back down into a messy tumble down catch all which I actively hate. In my perfect world everything has a place to live. Every item has a returnable home. Daughter is going to order some shelving and I will drag everything out, put the shelving up, then organise it.

I made Spanakopita as a pie. The recipe is in the newsletter. I do love writing our weekly newsletters. Pop over!

The garden is growing and as you can read in the newsletter I planted a Fig tree, a Feijoa bush this weekend. I am very excited about the fig. Both are reasonably fast growing and will begin to fill in that ugly corner.

This corner is where the compost heap is going.

The last of this seasons roses are blooming in the poets window. I have no idea what these roses are called. But once this flowering is finished I will prune them all hard again.

We have had so little rain since my arrival. And there is a lot of construction about. The playground across the road is dusty with diggers and at the end of the road an entirely new subdivision with the ground being prepared by enormous machines as big as small houses. So the dust is dreadful. Dry. Red. Sandy. And blowing.

I water the plants or nothing would grow this summer but we pay for our water here (and have not had a water bill yet) so I water the plants apprehensively. I have no idea how much it will cost.

Here is the subdivision down the road.

With solar power and all the sun we literally have not had a power bill to pay yet. So I hope it will balance out.

John just sent me a pic of his ducks – finding the pond for the first time.

So sweet. I bet they are happy. I hope they can fly.

Ok.

I am off to get ready to drive across town. The hospital is a ways off down nasty motorways and rotten traffic so I have been practicing the route for when Daughter goes into labor. Every midwife visit ( or scan or class) is another practice.

Have a good day!

Love Celi

  1. Es la vida. Perhaps we will see the photos later or tomorrow 😉

BTW in case you don’t know, you need two fig trees for pollination and fruit, but a fig tree in a nearby garden will do!

  2. Good morning, c. ❤️ On Labour Day: do you have an app that shows traffic conditions? And have you mapped out a Plan B and Plan C in case there’s an accident on the road? Being a Doula is such a heavy responsibility, and I know you’ll manage it perfectly.!!

  3. That’s annoying about the WordPress photo restriction. I hope they can sort it out for you.

Love, love, love spanakopita. I can’t wait to eat many spanakopita on my Greek travels next month. And all the other good things. Corfu Town has so many little bakeries that some streets are perfumed with fresh bread and pastries.

Hope all went well with the scan and the drive.

  4. I’m starting to butt my own head against the space restriction. I’ve been posting for more than 10 years, and am only reaching the 3Gb limit, but I save my photos down to a much smaller size than the original before uploading, and I’ve started to go back and delete old posts/pictures to help. One of these days I’ll have to go paid, I suppose, but it seems like such a faff and I might not be able to keep my original theme 🫤

I’m sorry I can’t see the photos you describe. If you do get them uploaded let us know and I’ll come back and check again.

I hope your daughter manages to synch her labour with non rush-hour traffic. Maybe there’s a kind colleague who could bring you both in on blues and twos?
