Frozen Fog on the Farmy and a Giveaway Heads-Up!

Yesterday I gave my Old Camera a good talking to about sustainable farming and how every one must pull his weight  and be useful on the farmy.  How we are in a cycle of give and take and cameras have to give, give, give.  I told him that he is an important camera because he carries your eyes in his lens and without his help, all of you, my readers, are blind.  Old Camera has relented and promised to Carry On.

So, yesterday morning the Old Camera and I went out into the  freezing fog. Freezing Fog  is an insidious mist that reaches out its gentle wistful misty fingers and coats everything with ice. It looks so pretty but it carries a brittle  melancholy that is contagious.

So to cheer  Old Camera up I am planning a Giveaway of  a signed mounted 8×10 Print or a package of Postcards.  Chosen by you all from the Kitchen’s Garden Blog.  I am desperately trying to talk Daisy OUT of doing the signing  but you know how she is! Everything is about Daisy!   Because she is the pregnant cow!

So on the day after we reach the 40,000th HIT  I will announce the Giveaway. And on that day you can make a comment either here or on the Facebook page letting me know which pictures you would choose.   I am giving you time to prepare,  because I would love for you to tell me which image you liked the most.

You don’t have to give me numbers and dates. Though that would be very useful.  Just describing a shot and the season, will often lead me to it.  Now I know that you all cannot win. The winners will be randomly chosen from the PomPom Hattie. But every comment will count because I will note and collate the info from your choices for future reference. We might make a calender for 2013.  Plus  of course your choices will help me choose the Postcard Collection.

And Old Camera and I would love to know what images attract you.

I am not sure whether to offer a print or a collection of postcards for a Giveaway. So maybe today you can help me with that decision.

SO: Do NOT choose the images yet.  This will be done when you hit 40,000 clicks.  For now just think about it and help me decide whether to offer a print or a wee collection of old fashioned postcards-the type you can put a stamp on and send.

The choice of image will be hard as you have from July  2011 to make your selection. Keep in mind that not all photos are printable, due to clarity, or size issues.  But that is OK we can sort all that out later.   The good news is that the image on a web page is at half strength, so a printed image will be so much better!

I hope you like this idea because I am feeling excited about it!

We have the fog again this morning but it is not freezing, just damp.  TonTon is grateful.  He hates it when the hairs in his ears gets frozen!

Good morning!

PS. Of Course I will send the package anywhere in the world – As long as you have a Mail service!!  c

  1. Those opening two shots of the truck and the chickens are just killer, as is the expression on handsome TonTon’s face with his frosty ears! Those chickens look like they are out on the Scottish Moors. I vote for postcards, too, please!

  2. Oh your poor dog, Cecilia. He looks like he’s freezing. I’ve never seen a dog with frozen fur. I love the idea of your giveaway. I would love the postcards so there is a series of images to admire rather than just one print.

  3. Great picture idea: and I love the freezing fog pictures; just grogeous. Top of the pops for me today, however, has to be TonTon. Whadda guy. Those eyes! I would give that dog anything he didn’t ask for!

  4. Fantastic idea! I don’t know which is better… like others have said you can frame postcards. Maybe a set of 3 or 4 that would work nice as a group wall hanging. I made a calendar of some of my food shots, didn’t realize one of my favorites (ginger cookes) was too small to properly print to 8×10 😦 I don’t know where the original pic file is either! Oh well. Another idea is a coffee table book, that might have to wait for the 100k hit mark, eh?

  5. Postcards are great (and what’s brilliant idea) but how about a high res copy so people can print and frame their fab photo instead 😉 I think you’re onto a winner with the calendar and you should seriously consider entering some of your photos into a competition. I’d vote for your photos every time!

  6. LOVE the image of TonTon. So sweet!
I am not entering this. I absolutely refuse to try and even begin to choose a favorite. All of your photography is just extraordinary. I love animals and images and I can’t even choose the order of those – both equally.
Carry on, dear one. You have my attention, with or without incentives! 😉

  7. Marvelous photos today – LOVE the icy grasses and the chickens in the fog…and the barn…wonderful. And what a fun idea – your giveaway! But…the question, of course is, HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY PICK JUST A FEW FAVORITES?!!!!

  8. Bonjour C, you’ve captured the freezing fog beautifully – both words and photos. The farmy is so atmospheric whatever the weather.
Now would I want several postcards or just one print? I think I’d go for the 1 print, but would be beyond HAPPY to have postcards as per the popular vote 🙂

  9. Oh boy Celia, what a magnificent giveaway idea – you are so awesome! Seems the postcard idea is winning hands down! I am dizzy at the thought of which pic to chose as a favourite…all of them – oh I guess that doesn’t narrow it down enough 😉
I also had the calender idea in the back of my mind for 2013 – must be a case of great minds…
Poor little Ton Ton – I am rushing over with a blankie to warm him up!
    🙂 Mandy
