Peach Ice Cream and Hot Black Tea

Taken together. One in a little blue hand thrown pottery bowl and one in an antique porcelain blush pink tea cup. Alternate swallows. The perfect complement.  I have this combination every night lately as I load our photographs. One must be very hot to know the extreme cold of the other.  The sweetness raising  the bitterness.  Is there an irony here: to enjoy one we need a few dashes of the other.  To understand sublime we must have seen despair.  To find clarity in an image we sometimes turn to full blur and then focus back in from there.  A little bit happy transforms to joy if we have seen a little bit of sad. To have our eyes opened to laughter we need to remember closing them in tears.

Hmm.

My big camera is still on the blink so the shots today of yesterday are all purse camera. I think I am appreciating my big clunker when using this little fully automatic camera that fits in my pocket.

Nothing changed here.

We had a good solid productive day doing just the usual things and not too much more.

It was hot but not too hot. No rain. Queenie is not as fat as this image is suggesting. Just the little lens playing games with us. .

The Shush Sisters broke ranks and ran off.  Then ran back.

TonTon would like to show you his ball, it goes missing for days on end then reappears, retrieved with such pride.

Mary’s Cat cannot bear it anymore. I can’t see you so you can’t see me!

Good morning. It is still dark so I cannot see what the weather is promising.  It should be another dry day.  Do NOT uncross those fingers yet.

There were issues with getting onto these pages yesterday. And many of you my readers and stalwart companions are not getting your notifications of my postings. I am concerned about that because if wordpress starts to let us down and you cannot find me then the work is meaningless.  So I will have to design  and create a DotCom blog in another space with reliable feeds and that is quite beyond my capabilities.  I don’t even know the term for doing that. Or the process or the anything. And from what I gather as I have watched others it takes a lot of time and time is not something I can grow in my garden.

So we will have to think on it.

I am glad you were able to find me this morning. Have a lovely day.

  1. I always enjoy your philosophical musings Cecelia; down to earth and heartfelt. My post yesterday was one of bitter-sweetness if you have time to visit. By the way, big camera or small, it’s your eye for a good picture which always comes through.

  2. I like the idea of alternating sips of hot and cold, especially at the end of the day, it must be quite comforting. As Hetterbell said, I think it was just about the initial published feed link not working after you edited you post, so no worries!

  3. Sorry to hear of your continuing camera problems. I hope MD’s suggestions are a help. Peach ice cream sounds so good. I need to make a batch.
    Have a great day, Celi.

  4. Hi, c. This is my third attempt to leave a comment today for you. I’ve had the same issues with WP and finally am transitioning my blog to my website. For right now I post on the new site and the do a “new post here” on WP with a link to the new blog. I have gotten to where people can subscribe with an e-mail notification.

I hope it all works for you. You have a loyal group of followers that I’m sure will continue wherever your blog is.

PS- I now get my blog notifications through Google’s Reader and it has worked well for me. 🙂

    • Thank you ted for finally being able to leave a comment, I shall find your new site and sign up for email.. that sounds like the best thing to do.. have a lovely day.. c

  5. Good morning! I receive a notification daily without fail, and I never have problems finding you, so not sure what that issue is all about … but gladly it’s not an issue for me. Ice cream before bed sounds lovely. We’ve been having strawberries with milk before bed. Nice.

  6. Do be careful about moving from WP to a .com – the hardest thing to migrate is your subscribers.
If people are not getting notifications, it’s most likely that the Spam settings in their Gmail or similar are misbehaving 😉

    • Ah, OK. I have a .com on the kitchens garden address as well anyway, it has been there for months now but I think that is different from setting up a new site and i am just not technically able to do that anyway, i am sure we will just puddle along here.. see what happens next! Thank you Mad, you are always so generous with your knowledge.. c

  7. Love the color of the sun on the barn…nature’s palette. Amazingly, I’m having no problem getting your emails of posts…just late some days reading due to deadlines. The last batch of peach ice cream from the last of the local peaches is in my freezer right now…we’ve been rationing!

    • No it is not the shutter, the battery goes dead at odd times and the card is not longer being read when i am trying to load ii.. so i am buying a new card and a new card reader (mine is about 8 years old and too well travelled), I will order a new battery and if all those do not work then i will push reset. And if that does not work i will panic!! c

  8. Oh, peach ice cream! What a lovely thing to eat each night — and you know how I feel about tea if you’ve read the tea rant. You wax quite philosophical here. Beautiful shot of Ton Ton, getting to be the star, rather than in a supporting role.

  9. What a lovely blog, Cecilia! Peach ice cream sounds delicious! I enjoyed seeing the photos of your animals, especially TonTon with his ball proudly displayed & Mary’s Cat playing peek-a-boo.

I use Blogger and unfortunately, I’ve been having a load of problems there as well. I hope your issues with WP are resolved soon. I’ll add you to my Google Reader so I can visit your Kitchens Garden again soon!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment – it made my day! 🙂

  10. I hadn’t realised there were problems again as WP seems to be working properly at the moment as your posts are now showing in my reader thingy, what doesn’t work so well is when I’m working and I miss out on the action!
Loving mary’s cat, and the thought of ending the day in such a bitter sweet way !
