We got rain!

The storm rolled in with a primordial presence.

That created a zing of excitement

and terror

TonTon literally hid for the entire afternoon. I mean he hid but had to have me in sight too. Such a confused dog.

But there were puddles for water play.

I had to start using the purse camera now as Camera gave up the ghost again.

Our John had a day off due to all the rain and so he put in a few of my new old gates,  and we all worked in the barn and in the kitchen for the day. I found this gate in a junkyard. It cost me twenty dollars and is very heavy.  Handmade and old.

Is this too spooky?

Good morning. My son, his lovely lady and their dog leave this morning.  It is hard to live so far from my grown children.  They are scattered about the world.  As am I. There you are though. We cannot change what is. But we can certainly work with it.

These have been lovely quiet fruitful days. And soon it will be quiet again.  But I will have  time to chat with you in the Comments Lounge today.  I am determined to have a slow day.

On this day a year ago -I wrote a story about a day in Kumara on the West Coast of New Zealand when I was a child.  This in one of my favourite stories.  I loved reading it again too!  I hope you do.

  1. Your poor dog, my brother’s dog, Whisper, is terrified also. He got her a Thundershirt that wraps around her tightly. I was skeptical but it really works, she’s quite calm with it on. It’s available at many pet stores or you can google it and find it on line.

I spent the afternoon with family, one who is going through some difficult times. On the one hand I’m glad to see her but on the other seeing her makes me feel useless as there’s really nothing I can do to ease her situation. Always two sides I guess.

    • Morning sherry, i always hope that just being there and staying close will help the person in strife.. even just a word is often so precious.. i will look for that Thunder Shirt, it sounds like just the thing.. thank you.. c

  2. I know JUST how TonTon feels: am the first one to climb into bed with the pillow over my head when the really big ones hit here! Yuk!! Love nature when she is behaving . . . well! Oh, love that shot of the Duke also . . .

  3. The rain doesn’t phase our dogs much, other than they won’t go outside in it. Love that picture of TonTon. Is the shepherd yours now too? I might have missed something. I saw him pop up. What a great looking dog. Tell TonTon I still love him!
