When first you land in Auckland, New Zealand,
or when you are weary of travelling and almost ready to go home – I have found the perfect place for you to lay your little head.
I am staying at Ponsonby House, Ponsonby, Auckland. Quite delightfully Bernadette and Jonathon, my hosts, have read the blog too.
So they were completely up to date on my wanderings and prepared a beautiful first class room with a view of the cool treetops.
Staying there is a little like staying in a friend’s home, but with breakfast in bed.
Fantastic attention to detail. I am very grateful for their care.
This morning I wandered down to the waterfront from Ponsonby, it is not a long walk at all and the weather is so gorgeous.
I watched a little cricket on the way.
And met some old friends down on the viaduct where all the fancy boats are moored.
Another fantastic day in Auckland. Though back at the Farmy it is 22F (-5C), a wee bit chilly and blowing evidently. Our John is ready for me to come home.
One more dinner party though …. and it will be a goodie. The next time I post I hope to show you a real Kiwi garden. Deb is a wonderful gardener.
Have a lovely day. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

For a moment I imagined you studying an insect. I clearly have been in the US for too long.
And I clearly have kept reptiles for too long. I was hoping for a peek at a Kiwi species of bug!
What a Beautiful Place – thanks for sharing – great captures! Happy Friday & Happy Holidays:)
So glad I made one last check before bed, or I’d have missed you…
Also glad you took a shot of those wonderful stair rails..clovers and cattails. Just fab.
Seems odd to say it, but, G’night, C!
I cannot imagine Miss Celi having breakfast in bed! Darn it – enjoy, lady!!!!! Lovely place [yes, looked it up!] and so very you: enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! And trust you to photograph the matters in Auckland which really matter . . .
We’re currently at 25F but the wind chill makes it 13F! Burry!! I bet Our John it really ready for you to return from your summer travels. Tough coming back to winter but I know you must miss your farmy so much. Looking forward to a real Kiwi garden.
That B & B is “b” for beautiful. So glad you were well taken care of and treated to breakfast in bed. Ah, John is ready for you to return. How very sweet.
That John has to be quite a man… being able to lure you back to -5C! Thankfully, for the moment, the trick is to enjoy every moment of the great heat and good company.
I’m not ready to come back! I’m enjoying our trip to NZ very much. I look forward to seeing a real Kiwi garden tomorrow. ❤
If I ever made it there, I would stay in that B&B. It looks so restful. I love those stair rail slats! Celi, can it be so soon our vacation will be over? Well, I must say, I have been enjoying this armchair adventure with you.
Ponsonby House looks perfect – and just what I am looking for when we visit Auckland next February when my niece gets married. I will check out their website for more info; glad you mentioned it.
Enjoy the sun while you can Celi, sounds like it’s pretty cold back home; poor John, bet he can’t wait for you to get back.
The time goes far too quickly. A lovely interlude in Ponsonby, thank you for showing us. Enjoy the garden, and travel home safely. I hope John will take warm clothes, boots, gloves, scarves and hat for you when he meets you at the airport.
Just think of how gorgeous you’ll look coming home. Sun tan, relaxed, full of stories to tell. Something to look forward to. 🙂
Aah – the City Of Sails. I swear Aucklanders wear their swimming togs under their suits to work, and all rush off to their boats , all shapes and sizes, straight from their desks in the city 🙂 I am sure our John and TTT will be pleased to have you back. Laura
Sweet! I also stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in British Columbia for the first time and it was wonderful. Have a fab dinner party!
