Hairy loves children.kids-and-cows-011

He likes to Kiss them.

When we were walking we stopped to listen to the rustle of the dried winter grasses and investigated tracks in the snow, and peeped into empty nests and ran up and down the pathways through the wild grass.

On the way back even Minty crept up for a cuddle.

Bless our sheep for welcoming the children to the Farmy. Good sheep. kids-and-cows-032

Isn’t it wonderful how our horizons can change. And our lives expand just with a nod and a smile.  Saying Yes.

Good morning. I am glad we went for our Nature Walk yesterday because this morning we have freezing drizzle. So it will be inside playtime this today and we all know who will come out of her box for that!

You all have a lovely day.

PS. I was making wooly mattresses for the dogs this time last year.  Though this year Mama’s fleece was saved and spun. Hopefully very soon I shall take it all over to a loom and begin to make a blanket.  I really must find the time to do that.

  1. The two sheep in our neighbouring field are very good with the grandchildren. They are suspicious of all humans as they have seen a lot of their chums killed by smiling bipeds. Taking them brioche or croissant seems to remove all their fears, however. Maybe the Silence of Lambs involved more croissants and bread than I ever imagined. Hannibal Levure.

  2. Animals must be able to recognize children much the same way they recognize the young of their own kind. What they do with that knowledge obviously varies but it seems to bring out the best in your sheep. Just look at Hairy! Hard to believe Old Kissy Face is, in reality, the Scourge of many a barn door!
What a mess of a day! I was to head to the Italian market but I think that will wait until tomorrow. We’re lucky though. This storm is going to bring as much as 2 feet of snow as it hits the East Coast. We certainly dodged that bullet! Enjoy your day with your new pupils.

  3. Well I didn’t think I could fall any more in love with Hairy than I have already, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong.
