I know some of you are expecting snow but we had hours and hours of rain yesterday and OH it was glorious.
Quiet, firm and even heavy at times. All the animals stood out in it.
I was milking an unrepentant, dripping wet cow.
The fields are waterlogged. The troughs are overflowing.
Just lovely. Though I cannot stand the waterbarrels back up to save any as it is due to freeze again tomorrow. However, that water is soaking into our wonderful earth and will wait in there.
Of course this morning is windy and cold again but I will not be downhearted. Spring will come one day. It has to. And every little drop of rain that we store in the ground will contribute to grass growth. Though looking at the dead fields it is hard to imagine it all covered in clover and grass and alfalfa. But spring will come in a while.
Good morning. Yesterday the children and I milked the cow and gathered some eggs and made baked custard for lunch. They were thrilled. Today we are off to the junk yard again to look for glass for John’s recycled glass house soon to be built adjacent to the Coupe. Won’t that be a fine thing!
Have a lovely day.

Rain, beautiful rain!
Have a beautiful day, C!
morning darling, are you getting that snow then?.. c
Yay Rain …. lovely mudpies 🙂 OOh nooo, Spring there means Autumn and then winter here, not ready yet. Have agreat weekend. 🙂 Laura
I think you’ve got time, we are back to freezing temperatures now! I had to knock the latches open on the gates with my little hammer.. c
Wonderful. Just love that first photograph. Enjoy the rain.
We did, and we might even get more on sunday.. hopefully the dry spell is beginning to break.. c
I’m glad you’re glad it’s rained, and hope the cold that’s coming is not too cold. Here it is cold and windy, but the sun is shining.
I know, you have too much rain and i have too little!! Aren’t we a pair!! c
Great splashy capture! Morning miss c…it’s raining here now. t
I thought you were going to be getting snow! ah well. rain is good too.. c
We lucked out this time, no snow. But parts of the NE – uh oh!
Will your landscape be covered in ice this morning? That is what would happen here in Minnesota if we got that much rain. We are due for a wintry mix this weekend and the resulting ice makes every surface treacherous.
Did I miss a previous mention of a recycled glass house?
Yup, all ice, icy puddles, icy path and icy latches, but we do have wind which is helping.. We are still working on whether we can make the glasshouse work, so we can extend the growing season plus over winter; lemon grass and lime kefir, a vanilla vine, things like that. It will not be big and is dependent on getting old sliding doors as glass panels, and miserably these are hard to find out here, not many people have sliding doors in their houses out here in the cold, it is probably the same out your way. so we will see what we can find.. c
the rain is on it’s way to us too! will you have a greenhouse then?
Hopefully! Wouldn’t that be something!! c
Looking forward to seeing John’s glasshouse! (He might like to visit us at Garybuie to see a familiar face!)
Christine
I went over to your blog and WHO DID I SEE!!! What a wonderful surprise.. I shall pop the link in tomorrows pages so everyone can go and have a look! You weather looks terrible, no wonder you are keeping indoors painting.. Christine you are so talented! c
No, you just have pets who pose perfectly!
Christine
Your rain = a foot of snow for us today! We’re hunkering down by a wood fire.
You are such an amazing school teacher!
That is a lot of snow, I miss teaching so much, it is a joy for me to have captured a few kids to work with for a while.. c
You learn to appreciate rain when you need it for survival. I know when I moved to Spain I saw it in quite a different way!
It is comforting to see puddles in the fields, even if they are all turned to ice now!! Morning tanya, love your lamp, sorry my dumb system would not let me comment but I popped in! c
Did I miss something? There are plans for a greenhouse? That surely will make things easier each Spring. Can’t wait to see it.
We, too, got the rain but then it turned to ice and, finally, snow. One more cup of coffee and I’ll get out the blower. This stuff is far too heavy for any of my neighbors to try to clear.
Have a great day puddle jumping, Celi. 🙂
The green greenhouse is still in its infancy as far as planning. But I am very excited about it.. and am hoping i am allowed a tiny corner!! John will probably hang the swing chair from a beam, take the paper and move in there every sunday afternoon in the winter! I can just see it! c
They are very fortunate children to have time with you at the farm..That experience stays with you forever. I am so blessed to have so many memories of times at my grandfather and my uncle’s farms in Amish country in Ohio.
I appreciate your gratitude for the rain. Even though I wish our precipitation was not impending blizzard we are very behind in rainfall here in Ct.
I cannot wait to see the glasshouse.
morning cheryl, the glasshouse is going to be a treat for sure.. lets hope we can find enough materials! c
Great rain shot at the beginning of the post. Really well seen. I wish I could be as jolly about rain, but then I’m not a farmer. Come on Spring, move your arse.
i am with you on the arse moving! c
A glasshouse! That will be so wonderful. We had a sun room in our last house in MN. I LOVED it in all seasons, but especially winter. It was a way to soak up sun without getting cold. So glad you got some good rain. We had a bit here, then more snow. The kids are in heaven. It finally snowed!
I love snow too but our snowfall down her has been pitiful! You got my share I think.. c
We had lots of rain here too yesterday. So nice. Hope you don’t get the bad side of that huge storm up north. I wondered if I was the only one who didn’t know what the green glass house was going to be, but how wonderful and I’ll bet it will be really cool looking, too. Have a great day!
