Soon maybe we will have pasture rising up from the tiny seeds we scattered a week ago. But not yet though. I think the seeds will wait for decent shower of spring rain and some warmth.
Mama is not amused that she cannot get her whole body through the lambs creeping- in door.
Meadow and Minty. Meadow is standing on a brick, she is not That tall.
Scrapper spends a lot of energy living up to his name. He is frequently missing and comes home with evidence of rumbles with other cats. I am not sure that he is winning many of these fights either. But as soon as I have gathered the funds all three of the barn cats will be visiting the vet. Why is it SO expensive to get a cat neutered.
Break Time.
The clear skies we have been having give us cold days but I get a lot achieved when it is cold and calm. The good news is that today will warm up above 50 I think and maybe I can leave the pump in the barn tonight after the milking. Now that would be nice.
The Daily View.
It is getting a tiny bit greener.
Good morning. I have sat here in this predawn darkness, listening to John getting ready for work, and there are no words in my head. What an unusual occurrence. I am so tired that even my hands ache, and I have only just woken up, this is unusual as well. I need to start clearing the flower beds and digging the new gardens which is some of my favourite work so when the children and I have finished their lessons this morning we will go to the South side and begin. After my daily hour at the wood splitting pile. I never feel tired when I am gardening. There is certainly no time to loll about in the spring.
We had an excellent water discussion in the comments lounge yesterday didn’t we? I learnt quite a bit about how other people and their areas approach their water conservation and use. Thank you.
You all have a lovely day.
love celi
PS Evidently I had not set up the link to Balloon Girl correctly yesterday so as requested here it is again. Sorry about that. Sometimes I work too fast! Now I am off into the clear blue dawn to milk Daisy. c

When my brother adopted his cats from the local animal rescue, he got 2 cats for $15 each, already spayed/neutered. Maybe you local shelter has such a deal for your future cats.
I cannot imagine having the energy to accomplish all that you do, c. Love the contemplative cat shot :-).
Where I live, the local SPCA has a low cost spay and neuter program. I managed to trap all 8 feral cats, one at a time, and take them in. They were neutered and given shots for $15 on Sunday, or $35 during the week. The SPCA people were just happy that I was taking the cats back home. Last time I took a feral cat to my own vet, it cost a small fortune. I appreciate that he has to make a living, but wow! My neighbors are from Mexico, they neuter their own male cats.
Like others have already written, there are places that do low cost Neutering. If you have a Humane Society, try there, as ours here do it cheaply.
Not only do I do Pet Sitting and I also do Personal Gardening and have three clients who’s gardens I look after. Mostly weeding, planting, clearing up etc. One client has a veggie garden that I grow stuff in for her. None of my clients have a green thumb and the one I was working for today looks at the garden like a room in his house, and asks me to ‘move’ things like they are furniture LOL. Today I moved five roses, 4 of which were climbers. And it nearly killed me as they were growing amongst privet hedges and their roots were entwined! Good work out though!
Take it easy miss c and remember to rest that body of yours!
The daily view is gorgeous.
Neutering the cats will help – we finally captured one little grey stray just before we moved here – He was small and his ears were just shredded from battles. Despite his misgivings, getting captured and taken to the vet was a good thing for him ( although he let us and chose another home – which is Ok, he was the only cat there and needed extra love from all the time without)
We found our area did have a feral cat program subsidy: much lower cost and notched (what was left) of one ear. Vet told us about it. They are trying to neuter as many feral cats as possible even if some are rereleased back to their feral colonies. Might check with humane society/shelters there. One here have started offering free or almost free neutering a couple times a year.
I love how you manage to slip in a creature in your photos. For example, today Big Dog. Love Big Mama’s picture too. And of course the cat. and Tonton’s lovely ruff.
Like others have written, look for a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. We have one in town with a sliding scale that starts at zero and ends at $40 for those with big dogs and money. It serves the entire region. The state vet group actually went to court and tried to get this clinic and the others in the state shut down. When that didn’t work, they tried to get the state legislature to outlaw them. It doesn’t cost anywhere near what the vets charge to do spay/neuter and many don’t like having the low-cost competition. But the clinics are all staffed by professional vets who donate their time to help reduce the number of pets euthanized around here.
Everybody seems to be on High Alert for Spring – loving your captures! Have a Great Day on the Farmy:)
If you have a humane society or other type of animal welfare group they usually have free coupons.to have animals fixed. Or at least for a reduced cost. Your vet should know and then you can apply. After I wrote this I saw others had said the same thing..

What Viv said… 🙂
Scrapper better be careful, or the coyotes will get him too.
I’ve put a pin on my ‘For Celi’ board for you – something I think the kids might enjoy.
Take care of yourself XO
Just came in from clearing one of the beds. Green stuff, not bulbs, is poking through the ground, Celi!!! The lawns look like yours but they’ll be turning green soon. I hope Scrapper learns to fight better or stays closer to home. And Mama does not like that she cannot join her lambs. No, not one bit.
Have a great afternoon, Celi!
It’s so lovely being back to read my daily Celi post.
🙂 Mandy xo
Scrapper does look like a wild child 🙂 I’m happy to hear you neuter – so many rural people (& others) don’t… I echo the other comments. There’s so much to be done, right now, for you and of course just as John is back at work so you’re solo again much of the time. I hope it eases off a little soon.
Good evening, c. A suggestion if I may: Take an extra tea break during the day so you can keep yourself mentally and physically ‘balanced’. We can’t have you sobbing while you hoe the garden and or hang out laundry, now can we? Take care, love. M.
I can feel that earth waking up! It must be such a good feeling. No wonder you are empty of words, with all the writing you are doing, AND that heavy heaving physical work with the wood. Remember to take a breather sometimes and let the well fill up again.
