The Hills are Alive

I don’t think it is the mountains intention to make us feel small.

The mountain just sits within his height and watches.

I think it is us little humans who see our smallness …

reflected in a mountains unrelenting gaze. A reminder for us. To nod our woolly heads and say thank you to the mountain for standing so still as we strut and wriggle and gnaw at his gnarled and horny hard-won toes.

Good morning. I hope to be going horse riding today with the boys and their girls. It has been years and years since I put my seat on a horse.

I shall try to remember to give my camera to a son so you can catch a glimpse of the spectacle.

Have a lovely day.

  1. What a fabulous place to be with your family Celi! The scenery is absolute stunning! Thank you for the gorgeous pictures!!! xo

  2. I love mountains (having grown up in Taranaki, under that fabulous mountain), and know just what you mean about their steady gaze. Have a great ride.

  3. The black and whites are simply stunning Celi – so hope you had a fab day on the trails and that we shall get a ‘you photo’ tomorrow!!!!! Have been laughing all week with you but most today seeing your headline!! You see, during the ‘bad old days’ of last week you made mention that ‘in your youth’ there was a possibility of you becoming Sister Jude – well, absolutely NO disrespect meant to the Faith, I have been singing ‘The Hills are alive’ all week thinking there was as little chance of you ever becoming a nun as there was for Maria von Trapp 😀 !

  4. Beautiful shots of the mountains, Celi. By now I figure that headache of yours has moved a bit further South, that’s if you went horseback riding. I’ve not gone riding in decades but I do remember the day after, all to well. Good luck with that!
Speaking of luck, the original batmobile was returned today, fit as a fiddle. Yay!

  5. Yes, I was thinking of the day after too, Celi, but banking on all the hard labour you do at the Farmy, maybe you’re so supple that you won’t have a day after – do hope so, but I envy you the ride in that glorious country !
