A horse is a horse – of course, of course …

The horse riding was as torturous as expected, due to lack of padding between my bony bottom and the saddle. But the horses were fat and happy.

We rode for two hours  through dense and stunning Canadian forest.

We walked single file one horse following the other at a rolling sailor’s plod, the saddles were great to look at but deeply uncomfortable.

So the only time for photos was when we had returned and were blessedly released from the wretched things.

Trust me to find a blue horse.  Like my new hat?

Today we are off on another mission to find lakes and things and tomorrow morning we will be flying out.

So no blog tomorrow or the next day. Unless I see something even more spectacular.

Here is something spectacular.

My  son surfing in a river.

This is what happens when you try to take the beach out of the boy.

Good morning.

I will see you on The Farmy’s Sunday.  What a relief it will be to be back home.  Today and tomorrow are jam packed. So we are now going into a wee blogging break. Unless, of course, there is breaking news of some kind.

Have a lovely few days.

your friend, celi

  1. Cool hat! So glad you’re enjoying Alberta, it is a beautiful province. I treated myself to authentic cowboy boots which were ridiculously expensive but worth every penny for the memory! Safe trip home.
    22 days! 😉

  2. you look fabulous! I used to ride in High School on Saturdays, English-thrown, lost, had saddle sore, but always got right back on; favorite is canter! have a great rest of trip

  3. Celi…it’s not easy to shift from a greenhorn into a cowgirl. And the butt general rules the decision! No one said a farmette has to be cowgirl! Good for you – I’m not surprised you jumped into the saddle and went for it. Please kiss my mountains for me as you leave. See you in Ohio!

    • I was going to give my camera to my son when we were on our way and it ended up with me at the front and him right at the back, on a single file track through dense woods and when we got back all I wanted to do was get off the damn thing, i could not even wait for him ot take a shot! Too funny! c

      • I think that’s the mark of adulthood. When we’re kids, we’re all “Look! I want to ride the pretty pony!” As grown-ups, we’re thinking our bum-bums will never be the same.

  4. I love the hat, it really suits you, and all the photos are wonderful.
I have a son like yours (he will surf anywhere he can); can’t get the beach out of the surfer boy!
Enjoy the rest of your stay Celi, and have a safe trip home; everyone and everything on the farmy will be waiting with open arms to have you back home.
