I took a bite of an apple to see if it was ready to be picked.. not quite but still very tasty, crisp and warm from the sun. But that is not the good news.
I took all these shots yesterday before I even got the news.
The Duke of Kupa probably knew before us. He is clever that way. Here’s the news.. Tah Dah!! Drum roll!!
Daisy and Queenie are BOTH pregnant.. Isn’t that the Most Excellent News.
What do you think about that Queenie?
The average cow is pregnant 283 days. Just over nine months. They were both bred in June.
So I think Daisy is due March 14th, 2014. and Queenie is due April 4th, 2014.
I am just thrilled to bits. Now we can start next years planning.
I shall pick extra long corn stalks for our two expecting mothers this morning.

Phew so glad to hear your good news. You are overdue for some that’s for sure. I am sure the time will fly, and it’s not like you are sitting around waiting with nothing else to do! Now getting into the second busiest time of the year (after Spring). Beds need clearing and winter veggies to plant out, plus lettuce etc. Flower beds to clear up and things to be divided for friends. Still plenty of canning to do, and freezing of last minute veggies. My new dehydrator came yesterday and haven’t even had time to get it out of the box yet LOL. Surrounded by apple orchards (mine trees are too young to produce yet) so will be buying apples to try out my new dehydrator.
Oh you will love it, i am putting celery in mine today, then capsicums, we are going to have the best winter soups.. c

Yes, it’s about time for some good news on the farmy! Congrats to the expectant mamas! It will be fun to follow their progress and look forward to the births in the spring–so symbolic of the renewal of all life. Enjoy the beautiful pre-fall days. It’s actually cool in Mississippi this morning! Unheard of in August, but we’ll take it.

Brilliant blessed events! I simply smiled all the way through the post. Then I went back and caressed the plump elegant eggplants and the gorgeous tomatoes. Loved the photo with the canning tongs. You have inspired me to take the work out of canning. I am doing small lots at a time. Pickled beets and zucchini squash are sitting in jewel like splendor on the kitchen counter. So much easier than watching my parents can a 25 pound bag of beets. Pickling is definitely addictive and Lar and I have become the consummate addicts.m V/
I am much happier doing the work in small lots.My goal is 6 jars a day for three months. That should keep us in food just nicely. the tomatoes are just starting to come up in big numbers so it will be even more for a while But all up i only spends about an hour and a half a day so it has not become a chore yet! c
