I took a bite of an apple to see if it was ready to be picked.. not quite but still very tasty, crisp and warm from the sun. But that is not the good news.
I took all these shots yesterday before I even got the news.
The Duke of Kupa probably knew before us. He is clever that way. Here’s the news.. Tah Dah!! Drum roll!!
Daisy and Queenie are BOTH pregnant.. Isn’t that the Most Excellent News.
What do you think about that Queenie?
The average cow is pregnant 283 days. Just over nine months. They were both bred in June.
So I think Daisy is due March 14th, 2014. and Queenie is due April 4th, 2014.
I am just thrilled to bits. Now we can start next years planning.
I shall pick extra long corn stalks for our two expecting mothers this morning.
Have a lovely day.

I’m happy for you, Celi. You surely have your work cut out for you this spring with two calves a-comin’. Is that the Bobby I see in the field? And does Hairy still love Daisy? And do cows have morning sickness? And what do you have for lunch? Some day I wish you’d give us an idea of your diet. I know you eat lots of fruits and veggies and meat but how do you coordinate your diet?
breakfast is two eggs fried in butter and at this time of year a fried tomato too with basil on top. Lunch is left overs. (so today that was a vegetable bake with tomato, zuchinni, aubergine and onion and basil.. yum) and tonight’s dinner is bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, (being Friday and all) I have just started the bread so I hope it is done in time. with home made herb mayo and pickled beets.. YUM. tasty. John sometimes want to go out on a friday but the food around here is so terrible that in the end we would rather eat at home. Hairy does still love daisy and i have just seperated them so i can do Hairys feet and he is not happy about it! Soon he can go back in with Mama though. that will make him happy. c
The let’s go out but where and what, no we’ll stay and home and eat something decent happens to us too… and we live in the middle of Sydney… dining out is very hit & miss, and the misses cost just as much as the hits.
Oh and yes that is The Bobby. He is growing at last.. c
blessings and health upon your two fertile Myrtles!

Here’s to the Good Moos!
Double pregnancy? Congrats!
Great! You may live happily for heifer and heifer after? 🙂
Perfect.
Yup Indeed break out the champagne bucket tonight! In my case the wine bucket AND I will be drinking it in my new garden dress that I am wearing today!! 🙂
Kupa just thought…why didn’t someone just ask me?? 🙂
Your marvelous news has made me realize next year will be upon oh so soon… time flies.
Such good news. Your photos evoke great fertility and abundance. So they will have a 9 month pregnancy, just like a human being. How interesting. I love the apple with the bite out of it. Makes me think of paradise, and naughty Eve.
Wonderful news.
I guess we ‘townies’ never think about ‘animal family planning’ on farms.
Lovely photos (as usual).
[truly laughing aloud!] What a crazy wonderful IT world we live in: two beautiful healthy cows on the prairies of Illinois probably feel morning sickness and don’t quite know what has hit them yet – and it seems half the world is clapping and finding this a very good excuse indeed to reach for a drink and celebrate!! A healthy pregnancy for both, and yay, more babies on the farmy 😀 !
I am so looking forward to Queenie’s calf, they are so TINY! What a treat we are in for. Fingers crossed though. c
Oooo – I do hope Daisy has her lil’ bubba on my birthday. That would be a treat. Love your words and images as much as always. We’re harvesting limes, bananas and bean sprouts at ours at the moment. Sadly that’s it, but something organic and delicious none the less. You wait till we start on the Nelson property! Lots of love Maria xoxo
Limes and bananas sounds pretty exotice cuz! Hope nelson is still there when you move over, those earthquakes are moving up the islands.. bit of a worry. c
the new image (it’s called procrastination of school planning) is blue borage In Hanmer, NY 2012. It reminds me of Constance Mary M C. xx
